Jephyr X: Thanks so much visiting! Yeah, I'm in a figure drawing class so I can brush up my skills.

Some sketches and a painting. I realized, while doing this painting, that I'm not much of a painter...Ha.

So he's the guy who did the credits in HTTYD! he has a cool style. I hadn't heard of him before, thanks for the new name! Emulating someone else's style seems like a really fun way to learn

This is such a refreshing sketchbook to look at! :] I love the style, energy and the facial expressions of the characters. They're all great. Are you on any kind of animation course at all? The work is very directed towards that route. Keep at it! :p

mariea: Thank you so much! Yay for more animation/cartooning people!
Vertical: Yep! His work is drop dead awesome! Glad I could spread the word about him.
Blunderguffer: Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm so happy that my work makes others happy.
    Wrulf: Hoorah! Thank you!
Jped2D: Thanks so very much for the kind words! I really appreciate it! I'm currently not in an animation course right now, but I'm looking around my college and see if they have one.
rumpenstiltzkin: He's definitely one of my favorite artists around! Thanks so much!
NatSmall: Thank you so much for visiting!

Thank you so much for the comments and support, guys!

Unfortunately, I don't have much to update with. Just a crappy drawing from figure drawing class. Lots of anatomical problems, bleh.

Vertical: Ha, thank you! I try to expand the figure which results in cut off feet. I need to stop doing that.

Some busts I did over the weekend.

Charming charming charming! I really like how you use colours on your life studies. Bright and vivid like that. Is that the assignment, using bright and vivid colours like that? Might try it for myself... must be good in understanding colour's values and temperatures.

oh and it's me! ... or perhaps not

Lav: Thanks so much! Happy you like the colors!
    Ylaz: Thank you so much!
rumpenstiltzkin: Thank you! Doing these busts were really experimental and I tried using sharper shapes on the woman.
witcrack: Thank you! Kind of. Some of my classmates used neutral tones. I used bright colors because I only have a 12 pack of pastels. And, yes! That is you! Haha!

One post for today. A bear.

Ahhh so that's the case... You know, I've tried some pastel drawing last week, not very serious, I was also using a 12 colours set, but the colours turn out muddy... I guess because I tried too hard to mix them up as if they were paints. I should try your approach. Thanks for explaining

witcrack: Yeah, I first block the colors out and then do some blending. I think using really bright colors also helps with toning down the muddiness.

Well, I finished my figure drawing course this week! I had a blast doing it and learned a lot. Now see, I was going to post up my final drawings, but...my teacher already left the classroom before I could get my portfolio. Arrg!

So, I'll post up some sketchbook pages.

rumpenstiltzkin: Haha, thank you! Don't worry, he's lazy.
Vertical: Thanks, buddy! I'm kind of working on it. I had a good amount of figure drawings that I wanted to include..but I left half of my portfolio at school and I don't know when I'm going to obtain it again. Aarg, I might end up applying next year. I don't know... How's yours going?
    ven-: Thank you!

More character sketches and a colored piece. I'll post up the studies I've been doing too.

Tons of strange robots invading CA as of late, im starting to get suspicious...

Anyway, always a pleasure browsing through your updates, you've built up quite a repertoire of characters i cant help but love, that voodoo bird is still a current favorite for me~ May i ask what type of brush you used on that bear portrait a few posts up? Your inkwork has become much more economical and smooth, its great!

Can't wait for more bud, keep it up!

Aw man, that would suck! But hey, whatever works for you, that way you'd save the admission fee and I'm sure you'd be a shoe in with another year of practice under your belt.

Mine's going okay, I have to fill out the form, revise my statement, organize my supplemental section, and mess around with the order if the figure drawings and then I think I'm all set, gonna try to send everything in this week! I'm feeling like 60% sure I'll get in. maybe a bit less.

The monster in the last post is so awesome! I think the kid would be better with a bit of foreshortening on the front leg. I know it's tricky stuff, but it would give him more depth; the legs swaying in that way where you can see both of them at their full length is sorta flattening.
Keep working hard, can't wait to see the studies!

    Odayga: Thank you!
AustenFM: Yeah, I've been wondering what's going on with these robots. Anyways, thanks so much, buddy! For inking , I used the "Pentel Pocket Brush Pen". It's awesome and I really recommend it!
Vertical: Yeah, it does. I wish Calarts had the option of sending portfolios online. Oh well. Good luck with yours! You're almost done! About the piece, it's funny, I did foreshortened the boy's leg when I drew it the first time. Haha, I should've kept it that way!
    rumpenstiltzkin: Thanks!
kitana_mk: Thanks so much! I love Monsters Inc.!

Some observational sketches and a inking.
