Hey man, your first photo study of that mountain-like area. I did the same one on my sketchbook...I personally think it's pretty crazy to see the same sketch by someone, awesome work man!

Lol, Gods of Stereo better win, if not just start selling these at work in protest.

Really like the latest round of pen sketches. Mech robot 1, the Yake-esque creature, the three on the top of the next page and the ones on the side. Would love to see a painting of that Asian style cliffside monestary. Seeing an image of soldiers walking beside the mech to the left of the scale mannequin.

Heres a quick sketchup of that quad walker sketch.

Looking great so far. Like the idea of it not having a window but maybe add a rotating camera somewhere on the top. While it still reads as the front, additional sensors/cameras/hatches/(tank-like repair equipment showing it was made for humans) could help suggest whether it's a human piloted mech or a robot.

Can't wait to see the painting.

Jeff the walker quadruped is looking sweet so far, I would bevel it a bit, maybe slope the armor and features, I do agree also with Tbone, a camera installation would be wicked, maybe have nano bots hovering around acting likes its eyes for covering further ground for long distances

    cool stuff

    Thanks for stopping in everyone.
Been busy so I havent had a chance to scan my sketchbook. But Keep an eye out for some scans soon!

here is a quick concept for a matte painting that I started for this CG challenge.

    Cheers.

Like this one so far, maybe move the castle a touch closer to third. Right now the tops of the trees and hills are acting as a directional force to that region below the castle, maybe it could be the start of a path up to the castle or an army laying siege?

    Thanks for the feedback dude.
I took some of your advice into consideration and moved the castle down a touch, into a third.
Also I flipped the composition horizontally. And I really liked the path idea, so I decided to implement something like that.

    Here is the updated idea.

cool landscape Jeff i like the castle, neat center of focus, try using a square brush for environments sometimes it can yield some unique results when combined with a round a brush.

the path seems a bit straight and the eye moves to the castle very fast maybe you can do something just to break its straightness add minor elements i think. well just a suggestion.

uh i was so sure i had commented on this, but i love the last one, its gorgeous!
the only thing that i take notice of in the projection is the fairly strong wind and the trees are still.
but i really do like it, has a cold feeling about it!

Nice work man, thanks for posting the steps. One suggestion, right now there's a good sense for the atmospheric perspective, the only thing that jumped out was the tree on the left. Maybe a bit more contrast there? not sure though.
