I really like your paintings you have a good eye for color and tone. And your drawing are very nice too you have a good sense of structure and you render them very well. The only thing I see is that some of your full body poses look a little stiff. Try and be a little loose with the pose find the flow and where the weight is. Really nail that action down before you going for the finishing details. But beside that you got a lot solid work here.

    great stuff

    keep it up

I like the way you sketch - the hatching technique you use looks nice!

Good digi paintings too - I liked the guy with the axe cuz it had more motion in it than some of your other paintings. Also the empty chip bag is crazy - damn!

I saw your signature in the Critique Centre and since it was so inviting, I came in here for a look. Only checked out the first and last pages but from that I can see an amazing improvement in your digital work. Good stuff, and I only wish I had the same dedication in that area myself.

Candra H- yeah the signature has probably done a fair job a few times. thanks, its really hard starting out (well it was for me because i new sod all about computers when i started, got like an E in IT haha) but the more you use it the easier it becomes and now i prefer sketching in photoshop to paper.

random crap im still working on. dont worry, nothings finished as usual.

How the hell are you improving so fast?! There's so much improvement in here since your first page.

No critiques as you're doing everything you need to do to improve. Good job.

Junpei, thanks, im happy with the rendering, but i probably could have been more firm with the structure. something im working on. cheers.

bish0p2004, thanks dude. it doesnt feel very fast locked in my little room. haha (*tear*). thanks man.

absolutely nothing interesting here. trying to learn constructive perspective so i can finish that river city piece. that and just be able to demonstrate (hopefully) mad crazy designs and camera angles.

oh and a study, just a bit of fun, im at the stage where i might add colour? who knows.

ps. mothing really finished as usual.

    cheers!

    Hi matey

I have just been through your SB cover to cover as they say! Its great in here mate but I would just say it bounces around a lot, I dont know what I'm going to be faced with from one minute to the next its Mad!! LOL

Stand out bits for me were :-
post 55 the beach that was very well done and with another push mate it could be epic,
Post 57 the airship concepts! though I am now wondering why they are not featured in the big picture thread that is going on in the WIP section? get em in there they are good concepts mate.
Post 91 the axe man good solid job even if you have a few bits you are not happy with.
and finaly Post 112 which you really should finish off yourself, pavel can do it too if you said he could but bloody hell mate to take it that far and stop is not the act of a reasonable man, its bonkers.

But after several moments consideration I think you are still top dog and qualify for a :-

"He is so epic! He's so money supermarket"

for those of you that dont know its a silly advert on English TV.

all the best Dog-faced, keep it coming

Lightship69 - cheers buddy. i appreciate you going through and taking the time to form a consided critique of my progress. and i agree with your stand-out parts, and about the pavel thing; but hey... i never said i was a rational guy

and thanks, thats a really nice thing to say (asuming that you dont work for them and aresubliminally advertising through the media of kindness- lol).

Thanks again man, i'ma coming by your sb as soon as ive got time (i know you didnt ask me to, but its the least i can do).

ok, hmmm, perspective. i know a fair bit now, but i still feel im faking a lot of it. so im kicking that habit directly in the balls! and im going back to line work for my characters, its what i used to do before i moved to digital... so feck it. im still rendering them early on, as im a render slag and cant help my self.

    peace!!

Good work, I see a very fast improvement from the first page. Some of the works I have seen are like doodles, feeling like they are only started, but others look great. Everything in your skb is good as studies, specially in composition, light and color. I think you are in the right direction. Keep it on!

this is an interesting thread. First of all there's a good deal of improvement since the first page, but there's another thing I find, well, a bit strange. You seem to be going back and forth with your value range, from painting to painting. There are some really good ones (and not only the still lives - where this is most often the case), where you use wide ranges of values, from dark darks to some juicy highlights, and then there are some that beg for more, because they are stuck in the lower middle range of values. Mind you, it's more than just value range that makes an image read nicely, but I think it's one of those things that you could easily improve that would make a big difference.
Also - It's very good that you're working on perspective. I recently had the chance to help someone who's just starting out, and I just can't stress how important good perspective is.

So yeah, keep up the good work and never stop!
    Cheers!

    Hi matey

Ha ha ha I loved the "render slag" comment that made me lol! I must admit I have the same problem, I have to see what it looks like as soon as possible.
I like the quick anatomy studies, its always a good idea to throw some of them out and there is a good sense of movement, balance and weight shift in them too. Some of them missed the boat too but hey its all practice and its all worthwhile.

all the very best to you mate and keep it coming.

and some studies of rudimentary stabing insruments. (top ones where 5 mins each, bottom where 15. im really unsure where the time went. apart from the right one)

Solid work man, you're well on your way. The alterations to the envro above have worked pretty well and created a much mor dynamic image. I would say the perspective on the towers is a little off especially the one on our left. ALso that warrior is looking good but his right arm seems short. Thanks for checking out my SB mate, us Welshmen need to stick together!

Hey, good to see the improvement here. You've got some solid rim lighting going on this one here.

Just keep practicing, and don't lose sight of your target, whatever it might be. Also, just check the length on the arms on the far end of your characters. They tend to come a little short sometimes.

Vritra - cheers man, yeah im finfding it hard to keep motivated in my pairents house in the middle of nowhere but i'll try to keep my goals in mind; hopefully that'l keep me more positive.

um, random concept, trying to get my head around vehicles. i get the fundamentals now, cort of; still struggleing to find a way that suits how i like to work. did this one backwards - first i started playing with form, then overlayed some structure and painted back on top of that; i find it dificult to be creative with a line drawing.

    Still early days/wip
