    Watercolor Landscape Thread

A few of my peers and I have started doing watercolor landscapes regularly. I thought I would start a thread here specifically to showcase watercolor landscapes so we would have somewhere to post our stuff, and so we could see what the other people of CA are doing in the same area. Feel free to post you're watercolor landscapes.

Good work, but FYI - there are a number of application programs on computer, like Photoshop or publisher, that might help you with cropping of the pictures. Give it a try some time. Ask your professor, maybe he can assist u with that. (sorry, couldn't resist this one)

A couple of watercolors; the interior forest scene is painted from an old postcard I had, the other two are from life, off my deck in San Fran and Northern CA in fall.

Thanks for posting Msegal and dpaint!
Msegal: I like you're first one the best
dpaint: I'm envious of your environment. It would be nice to paint in a great location like that.

Here are two more landscapes from me.
The first one is near a friend's house, and the second is in my back yard.

As if landscape wasn't hard enough with oils... well done! I always think of Wyeth when I see watercolour landscapes. I sure as hell don't have the patience to do them but I commend all of you who do!

Here are a few pages out of my moleskine. These are all about a week or two older than the first landscape I posted in this thread.

Some landscapes from my grandfather's yard in New Mexico.

The second one is something i did in a 2x3 inch moleskine while waiting on the first one to dry. It took like 2 minutes.

Hey guys, I just stumbled onto this thread and thought I'd add a few watercolors I did recently. I'm just getting into watercolors and I think I'll start posting them for critiques so I can improve. By the way you guys are posting some awesome stuff, keep it up!

    Copying Sargent

Hey guys, I've been trying to post stuff for about a month now but I've been having difficulty attaching my scanned-in files. Anyway I found that it works if I attach these images as pdfs so here goes. This is a copy of one of Sargent's watercolors. I never really have high hopes when it comes to copying one of Sargent's paintings but I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

    Hey Artem.
    That doesn't look to bad.

You should take what you observed while doing the copy and go out into the field and do some landscapes.

Unlink 40 and I had a landscape show in a local gallery in October. I've been busy with school since, but as soon as the semester ends I'll upload some even photos.

    Thanks Zanpakatou,

Yeah, I feel like I learned a good bit from that watercolor and hopefully I'll get a chance to do some plein air stuff soon. In the meantime I've been thinking I might just do some still lifes in watercolor.

I'm going to attempt to post a landscape I did outdoors a few months ago on a river near my aunt's place....and whaddya know it looks like it actually works, apparently I just have to save all my jpegs in preview first.

Anyway, I'd love to see some of the stuff from your show, I'll be on the lookout

    Hey, that looks nice.
The only criticism I would pose is that you seem to have very few hues in the painting. I know that those bushes had more than just one hue of green. (This is something that I am battling in my own work.)

    Landscape Show

I've been looking for the photos from the show and I have no idea what I did with the majority of them. Thankfully my mother took a few. I'll post the rest when I find them. X_X

Hey, lovely watercolors guys. We all know how great this medium is, especially while working out, right?

Anyway I thought I could share some of mine. They are all painted in plein-air:

Is it ok to post landscapes made using photo-reference from pinterest?

Anyways, here's mine, freshly painted... Colors used: ultramarine deep, yellow ochre, and venetian red
