Fantastic drawings you've got here. You've got a distinct style, which is what I like to see. Keep it up!

eyo! like everyone's been telling you you have a great style! i like how you do all this subtle and intricate shading around the eye and the nose, makes 'em pop ( just hope that's a style decision and not something you're stuck on). other than that I've got nothing to say, so I'll just subscribe ant hit you up next time you update.

Oh hey guys! nnngh, feel a little guilty for not uploading much yesterday and yet I still have so many comments.
Countblackula: Thank you very much! I think you've got a cool style yourself
GamersGene: Oh my god, thank you! And yes, you're bang on at it being a style decision, though part of it remains I kind of use it as a kind of "OH GOD, DON'T LOOK AT THE REST" beacon, but one day it'll be purely a style decision ahaha.
Sprawl: You're quite welcome and thankyou!
Zat: Ah, who doesn't need anatomy lessons? xD Don't worry, I'll do more studies soon.

You guys have made me want to draw a hastily doodled gift of appreciation for the feedback and comments!

Hair looks boring? ADD GEOMETRIC SHAPES lolololololol

TO DO LIST: A3 page of hands, of feet, of torsos, of skulls, of random bones, of muscles about the legs and arms, some more loomis stuff.

    Take a look? - Sketchbook - Tumblr -
Also, why not check these guys too?

Looking at some pictures from you again, it reminds me a bit on alfons mucha. Maybe the style of Mucha would be interesting for you and you could learn a bit from it. You should look him up and decide for yourself =). Yea and like other said, bit more anatomy studies could help you to too improve. Keep the good work up, and never forget to have fun =).

Thanks Klaus! I keep meaning to learn more about Mucha and each time forget. xD

Anyways, been terribly lazy lately (art wise, atleast)

    See what I mean?

Well I have a todo list starting today.
    1. Page of face studies.
    2. Page of anatomy studies (focusing on the muscles around problem areas, i.e torsos, arms, legs, etc)
    3. page of animals.
    4. Page of Loomis.
    5. Page of eyes.
    6. Manning up.
    7. Page of different perspectives.
    8. Page of different poses, expressions.
Might not get to it today though since I'm helping gran around the house before Mum comes over. xD

    heya!

really cool cake/gift drawing! very cool caricature style of a thing!

left-top image from the failspace is best of the bunch, has the emotions and movement in there, makes it come alive... well done! the chubby picture on the right is good too, bold heads are pretty damn scary and the rest of it is random practice i guess.

Just keep them coming! will be waiting for those anatomy sheets (and the animals, i bet you'll ace that ^^)

    Hey, thanks mate!
Glad you like the cake pic, and I'll probably be starting those anatomy studies soon.

ALSO, made a promise to myself everytime I post a reply I'm also posting a picture of some sort, so it's less boring for everyone.
So I just ran upstairs and took photos out my bedroom window.

    Beautiful, imirite?

Will totally force myself to do a painting from one, but ANATOMY FIRST
    See you all laters

Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook and for leaving your kind comments. Your stuff is looking good (at least you have seemed to have kicked the habit of drawing on lined notebook paper! It drives me absolutely bonkers when I see people doing that!) Anyway, keep up the good work!

And do be sure to check out my sketchbook if you have time!

Inspector: You're quite right! I should add loomis studies to the list too, keep forgetting. xD

And hello Yeti-Ball, you're welcome and thank you! I must admit the only reason I ever really started drawing on lined paper was because I was too scared of using the normal stuff. lol

Right, still keeping to my promise so I /very/ quickly doodled some women's faces.
Have to pay attention to what I'm drawing more.
AND I KEEP MAKING THE EYES FLAT D:<
So Adding eyes to the list of things to study.

I would really suggest to you to flip your page often while you draw. It will help you a lot to improve. You can see errors that way easier. Hold the paper agains a light to see through it.

A other way to see errors easier and to correct them is to work on one picture, and work on a other too on a other paper. And maybe start a 3 too. Then working some time on the first, after that move to the next and then the next and so on. You will refresh your view to the drawing this way =).

Keep it up, good artists are born out of effort.

Ah! I notice that my faces are all terribly wonky when I flip them over, but usually then It's too late since I can't work digitally.
I'm definently keeping that "hold to the light" tip in mind though, saddly I'd doodled myself with an afro and crab claws on the other side, so it kind of got in the way when I was drawing this.

Ah well, I'll keep at it!

This may have already been commented on somewhere further down in the thread, but (in regard to your faces) I like the rendering of the individual features, very detailed and well shaded, but their relation to each other and to the face as a whole seems off somehow.

Also, Klaus Reinbach III's advice is very good. That technique has helped me out a lot in the past.

Also again, I wish I had a view like that out my window!

I love how much you practise man, you got dedication.

Everything seems to be improving the more you draw, especially your anatomy and expressions, they're looking lovely. Nice Celtic inspirations you've got in there too, like the Celtic knots on the borders of some pictures.

Perhaps you could start to experiment with different perspectives too, and trying out different mediums other than pencil and watercolour (maybe charcoal or acryllic paint, or inks).

Back again! Had to do a /very/ quick doodle as to not to break my promise. xD

(like half a minute that was)

Peregrin: Thanks mate and the view's beautiful isn't it? my favourate thing about being over in Ireland.
Anyways, After mulling it over, I think my problem comes from the fact I spend too much time on the eyes, nose and mouth and barely anything on the rest of the face which makes it seem I've stuck them on a flat board or something.

And thank's Roister, Yes! I've been looking foward to trying out more interesting perspectives and mediums (All I have with me right now is acrylics, pencils, biros and watercolours- but when I'm home- BOOM- Mum's art supply will be pillaged  )
I'm definently going to add perspective to the to-do list.

Hehe , Ok even if it seems to be a bit mean of it, but that sounds like you just want to be lazy! (I know you are not!)

First, there is never a "too late", never! Even on paper you can nearly allways correct it, if nothing goes, then draw it again. That new drawing is like a second lesson for you then, and other people see how much effort you bring in and you yourself will see that you put more effort in it too.

Second, if you already notice it... XD I don't need to say more? =)

I have high hopes for ya XD cause I like the style you draw. So it's a bit selfish of me to hope to see it improve to a awesome style =).

    Keep up the good work.

First off, is there any land for sale near you, your property is beautiful, and as always I love your tenacity girl, I see the improvements! Never get too down on your art, as long as you're creating, studying, anything really, as long as your in art mode, it's good. I really don't feel the need to say keep it up because, well, I know for a fact you will !

OH CURSES, MY LAZYNESS HAS BEEN FOUND OUT!

Yes, I really do have no excuses. xD
AND I AM GLAD YOU POINTED IT OUT!
Because that's the one thing I need to change.
My lazyness stops me experimenting or even taking more than half an hour on anything, terrible, I know. But it's easy to kick a bad habit once you've acknowledged it.

And thank you, Lang! I don't think I can ever stop drawing, even when I don't want to I end up finding myself doodling xD So anyways, hope you Keep up the good work yourself.

Wow you improve so quickly, I admire how much you practice, it shows
I like the imagination, one thing I could possibly suggest is looking at the anatomy of the neck/shoulders? As in, how big they are in relation to one another/how they fit together sort of thing /durrr cannot critique

Och, you're totally right. Aha, always good to remind yourself about the basics. xD
    SO
given me an opportunity for a small loomis study.

Quickly added underwear when I remmebered I didn't want this being a NSFW thing.

Lol, there's still problems with this.

    Right, Sorry about that.
    Will do, hücumkedi!
And thanks Raminafshari, I need to practice all sorts. But I'm getting there slowly.

I think this'll be the end of my "Picture with every reply" thing because It's killinnnng me.
Look, I've even resorted to a year old photo of my hop-tu-naa face-paint get up.
Hoping to do it next october, I bet I'll be much better next time round.

    Anyways!
I will be doing studies tommorow, rest assured.

Tip on eyes: try NOT to draw the (American) football shaped slit-- rather learn to draw all the structures that make up this shape-- draw them as real solid things-- the upper eyelid, lower eyelid, tearbag, and deposit of fat and muscle that fills the space between the eyeball and the brow ridge-- what Robert Beverly Hale calls "the sausage."

Most of those structures are small and delicate, but they are more than mere line! Hope that helps!
