    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Trying hard to think of stuff that everyone will enjoy and I am thinking teen challenge should be a bit different from all the other challenges. Everything else is pretty specific so I want to keep TC as something a bit more relaxing and personal. Keeping it open as possible If you guys have any ideas throw them in the suggestions thread ----> Topic Ideas

    Deadline
    Sunday, May the 16th, 2010

    IMPORTANT
    1. Add a border around your image with your name and the topic, like they do with the other of the week challenges.
    2. Please use the attachment manager, it helps preserve the images to forever and beyond.
    3. Mark your final as final.

    Good Luck everyone and Hope you have fun! If you have any ideas for where the teen challenge should go then please either PM me or post it in the suggestions thread.

    I have something kind of going on. I'm still not sure. You guys may be lucky. I may actually fully render for once XD. I'm going kinda Aztec temple dungeon guardian thing...Its going to be an Aztec feathered dragon though. Still debating though.

    I'm actually tight this week, I was going to join but the final part of my senior year is making this week impossible, but I'll see what i can do If I can do anything at all

    Edit: Next week I am absolutely participating!

    You see someone better than you, doesn't it stir something inside you, doesn't it make you doesn't it make you want to do better!

    Gonna try to do something, but this week is fairly tight for me as well. I do have an idea that I'll sketch at the very least though.

    was I left behind?
    Someone tell me, tell me I survived.
    Don't look so surprised that I'm home, but just for tonight.
    With rough hands and sore eyes
    so don't speak, I am tired.
    Let's just live through this lie.

    I wasn't going to do this, but I got a good idea while wasting away in Spanish class haha. Tiny sillouette sneaking around a giant blind cave dragon. But a pretty blue cave with water. I'll try to post something tomorrow.

    Deerinheadlights: Sounds like a plan . I mean that portrays the theme really well. I mean I'm still debating on mine but yours is like dead on.

    Its a shame guys. I had a great idea. Thinking wyvern? But I have a feeling its got to be a dragon... Stupid technicality!

    Ok, so I'm considering maybe mixing it up a bit and going technological on this themes arse...what you all think?

    Teen Challenge 86 :: Dungeons & Dragons

    There ya go guys. A sneak peak. Im actually rendering it slowly. Will get there eventually.
    Sorry about size, how do I shrink it. Dumb question but yeah.

    An early early WIP. Hopefully I'll have time to finish. I know it doesn't really fit the dungeons part, but I tried to make it look like the kind of dragon one might encounter in a cave or dungeons or something. Yeah, kind of lame....

    @Platinguard: Dragon...Wyvern, as long as it's got scales or something I guess it's okay. My dragon doesn't even have wings since it lives in a cave.

    @Andrew Sonea: I like its face, it's like an awesome gulper eel!

    I actually had a lot more time last night than I thought I would for this WIP

    Teen Challenge 86 :: Dungeons & Dragons

    I'm concerned my dragon doesn't look very dragon-y, but I like him so it's you guys call. Now I'm at the water and I don't know what to do. I want it to be like black and glassy, not sure how to do that though. And those crystals need more glowyness, it isn't a magic cave without the glowing crystals!

    deerinheadlights: Oh this looks promising! You dragon could have some more jagged and hard edges/shapes to convey fierceness and danger. Right now it looks like a big cute dragon just napping away (unless that's what you want to go with ofc). For the black water, I looked at some google pictures (http://www.geographyofgrace.com/Dark..._scorsagra.jpg) and what I conclude from that is that the water will be a deep dark navy blue, close to 15%-20% brightness with that gloss only where there is a light source (in your case, vertically mirroring the lantern and the crystals, as they are your light sources). It should be convincing enough. Another thing: that little waterfall should meet the water almost horizontally to your horizon. Right now it's slightly curved, which shouldn't happen due to gravity and water erosion. Also watch out for the thick black outlines around your rock formations, they could flatten your image considerably.
    I hope that this helps

    Deerinheadlights: As far as the dragon goes I'd hope to see some eyes and teeth, like xinranliu said it's looking to calm...cartoon-y. I'd look up alligators and dinosaurs for reference. Maybe mixing some features of the alligators and the triceratops and maybe even Ankylosaurus.
    In regards to its spikes you should think of those as growths from its spine or from the bones themselves, if you google "Armored Dinosaurs" you'll see some of that. Don't be afraid to overlap the 1st spike on its back with the cave, cause it's not looking very spiky yet.

    So far you have awesome shapes and everything is there it's just a matter of fine tuning and individualizing now!

    platingaurd: If your starting over then nvm. But if your starting over on a new dragon look at some anatomy of dragons, they shouldn't since their are millions of books.
    I would also try drawing from a view point that gives us more depth...cause this image is flat. Also think of its form first, work small to get ideas and then make a big one...I know there isn't a ton of time left but I hope you either continue a piece or make one with your rendering!

    Andrew Sonea: very interesting. It's a hunchback dragon right now, I don't know if your going for that or not but it's interesting. Look out with those wings cause right now they don't have joints and they feel very airplane like. The neck feels to narrow where it meets the head making the jaws feel unbelievably heavy. And be careful with the joints on the front legs I still not 100% sure how he would walk,...maybe like a horse? Does it use its wings to grab and propel itself forward? Just some picky things with anatomy you may want to ask yourself about...

    @xinranliu: Thanks I tried to add some jagginess to him, but I really liked his curviness. A guess the girl just wants to talk to the wise cave dragon, and not sneak around to find his treasure, so he's not a mean guy? Or maybe it was erosion from his hide rubbing on the cave. Thanks for that reference, and the advice on the waterfall and lines.

    Platinguard: Thank you, I liked your idea of a furry angry dragon. Keep posting!

    Jatari: I made his spines look a bit more like vertebrae. I wanted to keep everything kindof close and interlocked, since having stuff stick out in a cave will proabably get it to break off.

    Did some more today. Made it a bit more blue and tried to make me dragon pointier. I like his curviness though, so I'm probably not going to change him too much unless I get some crazy spiky inspiration xD

    Chipped away at it a bit today. I am having mixed feelings on this piece. One minute I like it the next I hate it. Anyway, need to fix the lighting; I started rendering without even having a lightsource in mind.

    alright alright

    so ive decided to do a more dynamic composition this week to tackle my fears. Most of the stuff i do is boring and static. so here is my d and d character so far. Matthew, a fifth level warrior (2nd edition) using a potion of fire breath on some suckers. Im happy to say he made his first 6 kills last week. In two turns xD. WHAT A BEAST!!

    Here's mine, started not long ago. I don't know crap about D&D so had to research some first.
    Scene's supposed to be some ranger dude intruding in a Skull Lord's dungeon. he send some flame skulls to kill the intruder. Or something like that. A quick sketch is all I got. Will work on it tomorrow using any crits if i get any by then.

    Kay here are some of my ideas

    Teen Challenge 86 :: Dungeons & Dragons

    Teen Challenge 86 :: Dungeons & Dragons

    And here is what my final is gonna be. Need to finish the dragon, fix the woman's neck/shoulder and probably will do a charcoal overlay to darken all the...dark It does take place in a dungeon I suppose.
