    asian sensation

been lurking around for a long time, figured it was about time to start a sb!
i'm linda and i like to draw. it's a hobby at the moment and i don't know if i'll pursue an artistic career in the future. regardless, i'm extremely interested in improving. i'm currently 17 and i go to school in cambridge, MA. i started to.. somewhat seriously draw at age 13 and have no formal art education.

    i LOVE constructive criticism!!

Wow, nice picks, very impressive, at the very least keep up the hobby. If you want texts to study from for all those things mentioned, http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=131117
check out here and the site it links for good texts on it, Bridgeman and Loomis are the normal faves of people around here it seems but look about.

About that last one: except for her breast being set a bit high it's a nice study. To tell the truth, even though you haven't posted much yet, i'm very curious as to what more you'll put up here. Especially the pencil work on that little girl's face is very promising.

Linda, you have some great stuff going on here, I can't wait to see more! I know you don't have much time - trust me I know all about that! Do with it what you want, if its just for fun don't stress about it just enjoy it! Keep it up!

Hello Linda, and congratulations on finally starting your sketch book. This will come in quite handy, as you will see later on.

So far so good, i would just recommend that at this point you spend more time analysing the human figure, doing studies, so on and so forth.
Your flow is what seems to me that needs the most working on right now. It is good, but it can be better, and from what i saw in your last post,
you have a steady hand, yes, i agree with equilerex, but that could be good and a bad thing. If you don't know exactly what to line, you'll be in trouble.
So i think rhythm is the best to work on for that. I'd suggest looking for Vilppu videos.

You were asking about resources, well i guess this is one page you're not allowed to miss visiting at least once, and from there on you'll find your way.

    Cheers

i believe i made the mistake of abandoning most traditional art when i acquired a tablet when i was 13. i'm happy to say that my learning to get a firm grip on clean strokes with a tablet helped my steady hand. however, i'm now absolutely nostalgic for simple pencil and paper. i miss it's randomness and ability to easily achieve various opacity, line widths, etc. i'll still continue to use my tablet but expect a lot more traditional work soon!

artpole: thank you so much for the comment! what exactly do you mean when you say "flow" and "rhythm?" are you also talking about what i call "line conservation" where, for example, instead of drawing one solid curved line i use many (mostly unnecessary) lines?

Very good start on the sketchbook I can understand about not having much time but even if it is just sketching/drawing once a week is better than not doing it all (pretty much what I have been doing for the past year and a half, and sometimes not even once a week).

    Hope to see more soon

flow in a figure, as in flow of a river..it has a different feel to it when it all fits together really smoothly
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYVNHvOvtAo skip to 0.32 to see what i meant about rhythm; it's pretty much the same thing as with flow
it's not really line conservation until you find the line you want to draw from that bundle of rhythmic lines

you're welcomed, but i hope i'm making any sense!

i'm adding this to metal's post; helped me quite a lot

beautifull stuff, your feel for human form is fantastic!!!

Not much to comment, other than keep at it, it's more about how much you draw rather than what you're drawing. As long as you have the patience to work anatomy and poses things can only get better and better!!!

@hunter_info: i use a wacom intuos3 6x8. i bought it some years ago when it costed $300. i think the price for it dropped to $200 when the intuos4 came out recently. you can always pick one up for cheap through other sites.

@everyone else: thank you so much for all the encouragement. anything goes a long way.
