    Concept Ideas

I knocked up some concept sketches (my first bit of drawing in years) for some ideas for busts, just wondering what to do next when my current commission is finished. I am working on some chaos beasts for the miniatures hobby as my next commercial piece, but i want to run a personal bit of work alongside it. I like the bald headed guy (I have christened Thugore) or the alien (Zoorde)at the moment. Any thoughts welcomed!

Okay here is "Thugore the Barabarian".....

Here's the next WIP shots, still lots to do, adjust face proportions sort out the eyes (I ordered some steel ball bearings so no more sculpting eyes necessary woo-hoo), ears, details and some texturing. I couldn't stop myself doing a bit of texturing a little prematurely though and I think I managed to achieve a good result with the skin, a simple 6 stage process which looks fairly realistic. When all this is done and baked I intend to remove it from the base and create a smaller base to extend the bust to the top of the chest, then the cloak and bone necklace will be added and the bust completed and sent off for casting.

So anyway, I hope you like it. I decided to add an elephant man type cancerous skin texture on him add some additional deformity.

    GOOD NEWS!!

I am officially releasing this guy myself under the banner of "DFB Studio", this will be my first piece so its pretty exciting. This will be availble from my website but I haven't had much time to make the website look pretty, luckily Freewebs does allow a shop which is where i will be selling it from. I will be trying to arrange for someone to stock this in the USA as well to get the cost down on postage for everyone on that side of the pond. The bust has just gone off to Grey Matter for casting today so it should be available soon. I will be looking be a talented painter to do a studio paintjob, i have someone who might possibly be free to do it and if not i will be looking for one on here.

Here is the paint up in progress of the Thuggorre bust, I thought I had posted it in here a while back but obviously not.......

Anyway, the chap in Sweden painting it is doing a wonderful job, please take a look and check out some of his other work in the same thread, it is really fantastic, dark and brooding....
