    little update

first CHOW im participating in, don't know if I'll get to finish it, I've had no time to myself latley.. And, as usual, my torso anatomy is really wonky.. didn't really use a ref. just drew stick figure poses and went off of that

also, air kick!! ref. from ~beckystock

    Thanks Fumble!
well, I intended for him to be in his lair of sorts, with very small amounts of light streaming in from high above and to the left of him.. also a giant egg of doom behind him.. haven't gotten there yet ;D

Anyways... my computer died the day I posted that last pic, I just got it up and running today.. had to do almost a full overhaul!
Gigantic new case with a billion fans, (old case tiny and broken.. it was frying my poor pc) which turned out to need s new ultra powerful power supply, awesome video card, and a major memory upgrade. went from 2 gigs to 8 gigs.. maybe painter won't error out all the time??

hurray, it was time for an upgrade ^_^

anyway.. um, here's what I had so far before the epic failure..

I hopefully can find the time to finish this, I really like the image I have in my mind for it..

    Amazing!

finally finally got to scan a drawing.. I am very incredibly happy with this one. I have a whole bunch more, but I think this is my favourite...

The line variety is great in these latest sketches. There's a real sense of volume in her face. It's really quite beautiful how you've colored her. I especially like the orange of her eye lids.

    I wish I had a better critique...

    Lazer Guns! Agggh!

Buzz Lightyear, drew him for my neighbor's little boy.

    Character (c) Disney/Pixar !!!

...Ok, so I kinda cheated on this one, I directly copied a coloring book page online, I tried so many times to draw him in different poses, and he just looked horrible.. I can draw 2d, and I can draw real life.. drawing a character from 3D animation is insanely difficult in my opinion.

Anyway, I had fun with the lines, my hand is cramping now, ciao! Hope everyone who celebrates had a great turkey day

Also, here's some other ones I've done with the line style, I love how it looks but I don't do it too often. It takes FOREVER and I kill about 2 micron or zig pens on one picture.. I have more around here somewhere.. I'll scan them when I locate them.

    Blue Gown SUPER SPEEDY CHALKAROO

Hey peeps, I just did this, about 20 min. in Painter with the "pastels:real chalk" tools.. Reference is from 'long stock

I was terribly inspired by the work that the TAD students' work, and I wanted to try doing something all fast and chalk-y. However, I do not have any real life chalk, or pastels or dark papers. sooooo I did this digitally!
I'm going to keep working on this..

edit: made the image smaller, plus put in the first sketch that I decided to just paint over. thats all

    some sketchbook stuffs

things I scanned in from my sketchbook last night and today.. ta dah! I tried to do most of them in 5 minutes or less each, there's a couple at the bottom that took longer.. but hey, I was trying ^)^
Also, under the big file is kindof a redo of the chick with the weird bangs.. I'm still planning on redrawing all of her, maybe even full body, but I wanted to get her profile worked out.. I didn't like how her face came out in the first, sketch was too fast.

Line quality on a lot of these is pretty sick. Keep at it. As far as the torso anatomy on some (earlier chow post) looks like you've been studying since, so no issues. Not much to crit. I'd just say on some of your female faces, it seems like the intersection between the nasal bones and the brow ridge seems just a little too straight sometimes. A leeetle concavity might help out on on some.

    Good stuff!

    @SuperSwank1 / Paddy,
thanks so much, dude! I'll keep in mind what you said about the faces in the future, I was looking back through my pics, and yea, you're right, they do seem too straight.. I hadn't even noticed!

guys guys I'm so excited, I found this on a backup drive.. still can't find the whole picture, but omg i spent soooo long on this one, I'm happy to have more than just the eye!!

Sorry for all the crazy watermarks, it's all I have... I know, she's really yellow, too, huh..

    stuff from today

so, I inked this one partially today, and ..uh, kinda ran out of ink in my pen, hence her unfinished hair.. I think it turned out pretty neat though I really like the tip of her nose. its my favourite thing about this whole picture, seriously.

    also, a little watercolor study

    playing with sculptris alpha

first, a REALLY old picture of mine, I made this in October 2005, it's called Ruminantia.. yes, my name was different then, it was before I got married man.. why don't I draw weird animals anymore??
Anyway, he's the first experiment.. I needed a break from what I was doing.. I'm trying to learn Blender, but I'm getting extremely frustrated.. It's so hard to figure out the menus! . Im sure I'll get the hang of it eventually.. I loathed photoshop for awhile, and i could do it in my sleep now..

Then, I made this little fat guy, I really like how he turned out..

Final for chow 230 Rangda The Demon Queen

So, I entered a chow for the first time, last night! Everybody helped out so much, I know it's not perfect by any means, but it's alot better than how it started, I think

    light/value whatchamacallit study

More of this, just painted this little study in painter. I am most pleased, considering all my frustrations with the CHOW

Now, the real test is to try to do the whole overlay-colors to paint thing.. so hard to get the hang of! Granted, this will only be my 3rd or 4th time.. wish me luck

@velocitykendall Thanks a bunch, man, I'm def. trying

I just did this, I'm so flipping happy you guys, I haven't succesfully done a life drawing in quite a long time, I usually work from photos... >_>

This is me and my son, (hes 19 months now) he's in an orange blankie and I have a grey hoodie on.. I was playing weird al songs on youtube for him and he fell asleep on me while I was painting this. I did a sketch first, then a yellowy-sepiatone painting, and I forgot to save it before I started painting colors over it.. The painting looks way better anyway. .. btw my eyes always have horrible dark red circles under them.. the skin is pretty much see-through, so when I'm tired, i think i must look diseased lol..

    about light source:
It's morning here, and heavily snowing, the window is about 2 feet away from our heads..
