    Comic portfolio

    Hi everybody,

at the moment I'm working on my new comic book illustration portfolio which I can hopefully show to the people from Marvel and other at the MADE Symposium in Berlin this summer.

I will post every new artwork in this thread.
Critics and Comments are very welcome and I'm happy about every hint and advice that can help me to improve this portfolio.

    Here are the first two:

    Spider-Man vs. Venom

    And Cloak&Dagger
Some weeks ago I posted a previous version of this picture.
I wasn't completely happy with the result so I changed the composition and some other parts.

Nice colors! I suggest you work on even bigger resolution because they look rather like a thumbnails with very large brushstrokes on the lighted places! So take a deeper look on the poses and the composition! Do not cut into half the body elements. In some drawings in marvel the whole character must appear! Explore the options you can try and do a lot of little sketches on a sheet of paper before making the first steps in digi painting! The composition is the important thing - then the forms and proportions - in last place is the painting, because what is a beautiful coloring without beautiful forms? - G

The line work and edges of the background (spiderman image) are sharper and stronger than the characters of Spiderman and Venom in the foreground. This takes the focus away from the characters and makes them compete with the buildings for the viewers attention when the focus should be on the characters.

Solid work here, you have a very strong understanding of light and color from what I can tell. I agree with the above critique in that you should work in higher resolutions; Additionally, try to work on defining the anatomy a bit more. Other than that, you're off to a great start - good luck!

    Hey Thank you.
I set my current paintings I'm working on to a higher resolution. I think I have to zoom in more often too. Anatomy defining is on my radar as well.
    Thanks.
