    Teen Challenge 83 :: Undead

    Round 83 :: Undead

    Topic
The good ol' undead. So many options and so many ways.
    Enjoy
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trying hard to think of stuff that everyone will enjoy and I am thinking teen challenge should be a bit different from all the other challenges. Everything else is pretty specific so I want to keep TC as something a bit more relaxing and personal. Keeping it open as possible If you guys have any ideas throw them in the suggestions thread ----> Topic Ideas

    Deadline
    Sunday, April 25th, 2010

    IMPORTANT
    1. Add a border around your image with your name and the topic, like they do with the other of the week challenges.
    2. Please use the attachment manager, it helps preserve the images to forever and beyond.
    3. Mark your final as final.

Good Luck everyone and Hope you have fun! If you have any ideas for where the teen challenge should go then please either PM me or post it in the suggestions thread.

I don't think I'll be very active through out this teen challenge if anyone cares.
    Exams and school are starting

I've only got two days I've got things planned this week, so I'm in again.

Hopefully I can produce something better than the one I "finished" today.

    was I left behind?
Someone tell me, tell me I survived.
Don't look so surprised that I'm home, but just for tonight.
With rough hands and sore eyes
so don't speak, I am tired.
Let's just live through this lie.

Hopefully I won't fail at everything that I touch like last week (although the oil painting I just did fails). I WILL give this one a shot. Apologies for last week.

You see someone better than you, doesn't it stir something inside you, doesn't it make you doesn't it make you want to do better!

Started sketching. Going to paint in some sort of forest-y setting... maybe. I can't really decide.

Creature in mine is called a 食人鬼 (Jikininki)

I'm considering leaving this drawing at this and starting painting it.

well, here are some sketches I drew yesterday to get me in the spirit of drawing dead things.... ha, as if I wasn't already in that mood anyway! XD

so, now, I shall begin to render something digitaly... I have a vague idea, but I'm not quite sure yet...

Every undead theme needs a zombie! This one is just waking up though... not sure if she is aware of that fact yet.

Just a rough sketch so far... need to fix up composition, figure out What's in the background / in the coffin, and learn how to paint a zombie.

just started painting mine. Not quite sure on my skin tones, being that a Jikininki is supposed to have features of a decaying corpse. Trying for a bit of a greenish rotting kind of hue in the flesh and a ghastly green in the tail.

Zypherax-I think that those sketches are simply AWESOME. so gross and sick and twisted but at the same time just awesome...i wish i had the patience to put details into my sketches...

RedHotHoshi-I commemorate you for your efforts in actually painting yours-looks like acrylics?-that is brave-but it looks like it is coming along nicely. Last week was kind of unfair-chaircoals and acrylics are untirely different levels of...well they are hard to compare because acrylics are VERY hard for me

Good Luck To You Both-I will try to make some stuff up but I don't think I can come up with anything by sunday

    Well...That Just Happened Didn't...

this is the very early stage of my digital piece, I simply created a sketch and gave it a quick color underlay... now it's time for rendering!

Thanks Seashells. I am/have been using acrylics. They're still very "eh" for me, I can do grayscale stuff more or less just fine, but color kinda trips me up. I'm absolutely certain I'll mess up with using the moon as the main light source and then having a bit of a glow from the tail of the Jikininki. Also considering reworking the positioning of the corpse, I've had a few comments from friends that it looks a bit lewd.

Corpse is coming out of the ground now.

I think it makes more sense this way anyway.

I'm going to keep this one somewhat muted... just randomly painting away at the moment... it's happiness over quality.

I really doubt I can come up with something I'm satisfied with by Sunday though. I'm really unsure of the composition at the moment.

EDIT: A quick update... still no idea about the composition. Decided to not make her so 'alive'.

hey folks, decided to try my hand and this one, sounds like a fun topic

(btw, i couldn't find any rules related to the teen challenge other than the prompt on the forums... so if there's anything i missed please gimme a heads up)

    #1 pose and initial concept

#2 fleshing out the concept- fixing pose

    #3 ...

heh heh heh.. this sort of thing keeps me going when i realize i should have started on the background ages ago...
had i spent more time thinking about the background early on, i would have drawn the pose a little differently.. but now i've spent too long rendering to go back with this piece..

this last one is the final
i ran out of time, so the background is minimal-
hope you guys like it ^.^

eh, not only was I unable to finish this entry due to time constraints I was not aware of, but I'm not so fond of my rendering on it so far regardless, so...

I shall not be entering this round.

well, here is the half finished image I have generated, can anyone assist me in terms of rendering light refecting of a form from a nearby light source? because I have a feeling I did a terrible job on this one...

I am going to be unable to finish on time, sadly. I've too much to do and not enough done on my painting.

    Age limit is "teen" 13 - 19

Is there even a point in a voting? I think I'll just make a thread to show the work agrovent did because it looks awesome. But there's only one finished piece
