    Samples from portfolio critiques 2015

I have attached several examples from a few of the portfolio critiques that I did over the weekend.........the two quick gestural life drawing studies I picked were used in the student's Seneca portfolio application, and the animal drawing is a practice run for the Sheridan portfolio which will be coming due toward the end of February....the animal drawing belongs to another student and is not drawn by the same person who submitted the figure studies. It is altogether possible that these students will replace the complete set of portfolio submissions that they will be handing in several times before the due date, over the next month....this happens a lot with the students in our classes, because they have been working on the portfolio and related drawing exercises for the last 8 months, so often times at this point in the course there is a swift upward learning curve that takes place as all the previous drawing lessons begin making sense as a unified whole....apologies for the quality of my photos in advance....Happy Drawing!

    More examples from portfolio critiques

....here's some more work that I picked from the portfolio critiques that I did over the weekend with our current group of students. To give credit where credit is due, you are looking at some quick gesture studies from APW students: Sophie Thijm, Anita Verkovsky, Franklin Yuan and Michael Hinatsu. The animal studies are from T.A. in training Orlagh Lucyk McGowan.......these guys are all applying to Sheridan and Seneca over the next couple of weeks.

Hey Gerard, I'm not sure if you're still answering questions on this thread or if my questions are ones you can answer, but I was wondering in regards to the workshop if you've ever had students from out of province? I'm not from Ontario and I would really like to apply for a fall/winter session but I don't know anyone in Toronto and it would be my first time away from home. I was thinking of applying to art schools/programs near so I would also have classes during the week to hone my drawing skills, but the only ones I've heard of have been art fundamentals and that's 2 hours away and the residence to trafalgar is both expensive and difficult to get into. So I guess I was wondering whether you've had/have students in the same position that found residence somewhere, and if you maybe know about programs during the week ?(I'm not sure if you have week classes, from the website it didn't look like there were any)

p.s sorry if it's a bit too long I just didn't want to miss anything and I was unsure of who else to ask.

    Hi folks...

Here's a link to the portfolio that 2014-2015 Workshop student Niko Powell produced this year:

Niko came all the way up to Toronto from the great state of Hawaii to do the Workshop, and did a fantastic job...a real hard worker.

He will be going to Sheridan for 2-D animation in September of 2015.

    Happy drawing gang!
