    Niko Powell Sheridan Portfolio

    Hi folks...

Here's a link to the portfolio that 2014-2015 Workshop student Niko Powell produced this year:

    Niko Powell Sheridan Animation Portfolio

Niko came all the way up to Toronto from the great state of Hawaii to do the Workshop, and did a fantastic job...a real hard worker.

He will be going to Sheridan for 2-D animation in September of 2015.

    Happy drawing gang!

    Hi Folks.

We've been so busy with the new classes and the contest that I have neglected my posting of portfolios here...but were back.

Here's a link to the portfolio of Alex Melnyk, a grad of the 2014 -15 Fall Workshop.

Alex applied to Sheridan with this portfolio:

    Hi Folks.

A number of you have been coming through the Conceptart platform to our site and finding that it is down...that's because the site is being redesigned and should be back up and running in a few days.....

...so all those questions about the upcoming Workshop that you have can be directed to our Administrative contact through the info that appears on the temporary page that's up until we're back to normal.
Our Administrator will take care of you directly this way.

.....visit Animation Portfolio Workshop and you'll find the contact info there.

Sorry for any inconvenience....and yes, rest assured there are still some spots left for the classes starting in September.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Gerard

    Kaya Horiya Sheridan Animation Portfolio

    Hi Folks...

Here's a link to one of the recent portfolios on our new and improved website.

This one is from 2015 APW student Kaya Horiya.
Kaya used this to get into the Sheridan animation program, which she will be starting this week.

I thought I would post this in honour of all of you starting into brand new exciting art classes tomorrow, ( at least in Canada anyway after our holiday long weekend)
Best of luck with all of your efforts this year....

    Cheers,

    ...and Happy drawing!

First Animation School Portfolios of the Year

Here is the first example of a CalArts Portfolio piece chosen from one of our 2015-16 students wanting to secure a spot in the CalArts program for next year.

I will try to post examples from current APW students as I come across them during critiques / classes to help give an idea to everyone else on this forum busily working away on their stuff of the kind of work going into these portfolio's....hopefully it will inspire some good idea's and get the creative juices flowing for everyone!

    Keep up the good work!

    Happy Drawing!

...I will especially try to score some sketchbook examples as well for everyone to look at as CalArts likes to see a lot of work from the sketch book...

I'll post them as I get them.

We are holding our Win a Free Tuition Character Design Contest again this year...year number four I believe.

It's very simple....design a winning character and get free tuition for the 2016-2017 session of the Animation Portfolio Workshop.

If you place second, you win a free Toon Boom Harmony Software licence for a year, and if you come in third...a free year's worth of Toon Boom Storyboard Pro software.
Fourth place - $350.00 worth of art supplies - courtesy of APW.
Fifth place - 2 free passes to the Anime North 2016 Convention in Toronto....

    Visit this link:

    Examples from SVA portfolio

Here's a few images from a student portfolio headed for SVA in Manhattan.... I grabbed these over the weekend while going through the mountains of work being produced by our 2015-16 APW groups heading towards various schools.

Enjoy..and keep up the good drawing!

Hi Gerard . I already talked to Bernadette about the general information like forms & fees but I have a question . Do I need to have a study visa or will a visitor visa do fine? Because on this site : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/s...tions-list.asp I can't find the name of your school/program.
    Thank you .

    Hi tedy1999

I'm terribly sorry it took so long for me to reply..I got hit with a flu and was unfortunately laid up for a long period..but I'm getting back to business now, and am catching up on everything I let slide.

    Now, to address your questions.....

You won't find our school on that list because we aren't supposed to be on it, as there is no need for it.
Since the class you are applying for with us is under six months in duration, and we are not of diploma/degree/certificate granting institutional status, we are not required to appear on the Designated Learning Institution List in order to offer a course like the PWSI to international students.

Secondly as Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada states, a student can study in Canada without a study permit if the length of the course the student is applying for is less than six months in duration....this is considered as a "short-term course".

Therefore, a visitors visa is the type of visa to apply for if you're coming over to Canada to study with us here for the upcoming 2016 PWSI.

Please don't hesitate to mail me or better yet, speak directly with Bernadette should you have any further questions.

    Simona Baranovicova Seneca Animation Portfolio

Here is a link to the recent portfolio of 2015-2016 Workshop T.A. in training Simona Baranovicova.

I say 'recent portfolio' because Simona took the 2014-2015 Workshop previously, applied to Seneca for their animation program, was accepted, but decided to take another year to develop her drawing skills even further.... she worked with us as a T.A. in training in the most recent Workshop, doing the course for a second time.

The result is this most recent portfolio.

Simona will be going to Seneca in the fall of 2016.

    Happy Drawing!

A quick update on the enrolment situation for the upcoming session that starts on May 7 2016.

The course is drawing closer to full capacity, as we had a slew of people registering in the last week.
My suspicions tell me based on past years that this isn't going to slow down, but pick up more momentum as we get closer to the class start up, and I suspect that we will be thoroughly full before start up day.

Some of you have asked about how the admission process works with respect to possibly holding a spot in the course, etc....

Basically, we take people on a first come first serve basis - once your papers are filled out and the deposit is paid you officially have your spot in the session...

So yes, if you're thinking of doing the upcoming session, I would suggest getting in touch sooner as opposed to later, given the current trend in enrolment.

I'll post once we've stopped admitting people for the Spring Session.

    Thanks
