    Hi folks.

Sorry for posting this after the start date...

Our 14 day character design challenge started on Wednesday, and I'm posting a link here for any of you who would like to join in the fun.

The 14 Day Character Design Challenge is just that - every day for 14 days we post a new gesture which you then use as the basis for designing your character for that day....send them to us and we post them all- everyday.

    Quite fun!

I'll post some results here as we go....

    Enjoy.

Examples of APW Student Animation Portfolios / 2013 Aaron Lun

I know that many of you are currently preparing portfolios to get into animation schools for the 2014 school year, so I will post some examples from last years succesful APW student portfolios and invite you to ask any questions you might have in relation to the work you're seeing here and the preparation of your own portfolio.

We start with Aaron Lun, an APW student from the 2012 / 2013 session, who wanted to get into the Seneca Animation Program, and did so with the portfolio you see here.

Any coments or questions are welcome.

Werner Zimmerman Endorses Animation Portfolio Workshop

We received an endorsement of the work we do ( 'we' meaning everyone at APW - teachers, t.a.'s, t.a.'s in training, our wonderful students....) from Werner Zimmerman, artist, illustrator, and drawing instructor in the Seneca College Animation Program.

Werner is a very accomplished draughtsman, as you can see from his observational drawing blog and before his teaching gig at Seneca College, he was working as a drawing and anatomy instructor in the Classical Animation Program at Sheridan College.

It's really really nice for us to finally have someone teaching in a top animation school, publicly acknowledging the impact our students have had in raising the overall quality of the animation program itself.

    Werner starts with;

".....Iíve been meaning to do this for a while, but now with the the new semester at Seneca Iím compelled to finally say it: Animation Portfolio Workshop is really making a difference in the quality of students that come into my first semester Life Drawing classes."

and goes on to develop this thought in more detail.

You can read the complete quote here:

Werner Zimmerman's Kind Words About APW

    Happy drawing!
