    From the Beginning Again

I must admit that I'm quite nervous about this, but because I'm living in an artistic vacuum (language barrier) I'm going to go for it! My name is Aimee, I'm an ESL teacher in Japan. I majored in studio art at a liberal arts college and haven't done anything artistic for the last year to year and a half. I've decided to go back to school and am basically starting from the beginning, but this time with limited resources! (seriously, if you're in Japan and know where to buy decent art supplies, please please please message me.)

If/when you leave a critique, could you be as specific as possible? Thank you for looking!

I'm not good with critique, as I'm still learning, so I'll leave a word of encouragement.
Keep it up . I'm sure Japan has plenty of art stores (unless they create their manga elsewhere >.>). Try to ask a classmate or a co-worker?
    And Good luck.

    Thanks PepeDN and alamed

I apologize for the crappy photos. The paper is too big for the one scanner in my life. All are from life.

(god I need to clean my lens)

hey nice drawings! keep these up, i'm sure to look back some time soon :3
you should study, loomis, bridgman, hogarth for anatomy, they will help you alot, and not just copy through the drawings actually read and study over and over, rinse and repeat method. i made the mistake of just copying the drawings and i don't now and it helps alot more!
    good luck

Just a couple more badly photographed drawings. I'm looking forward to it being summer and the light lasting longer after work in the evening.

Self portrait looking scary. I learned I need a better mirror during this drawing.

A torso! This guy is a skinny mofo.

    Hi Aimee,

I teach English in Japan too. I've been to Sendai once, it's really nice there.

You can always try amazon.co.jp. Shipping is normally free and the prices are very competitive.

I've been super busy with work and there hasn't been much time to draw/scan/comment.

I totally fell off the CA wagon. I'm making time to participate in more art community things, so hopefully I can keep this sketchbook up. Currently progress is slow because I'm focusing on a series of paintings. I'm afraid these are annoyingly huge... Also, they're all photographs of paintings, so there may be some shadows from the paper warping and my poor lighting.

Finished this yesterday. I have mixed feelings about the drawing, but I'm happy with the painted aspects of it.
