Where's the "It's my style" thread?

The one that calls out people for saying "It's my style!"

There's someone who really needs to see it, and I'd like to point him to it.

    Thanks

Thank you; it might be that one (I'm on page 20 of it) but the specific discussion was something along the lines of

people asking for a critique and then ducking behind style.

    I'll keep reading the thread.

    Thanks again.

Hmmm... not finding any specific thread discussing this exactly, but maybe some good examples:

    http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=24872
    http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=54045
    http://conceptart.org/forums//showthread.php?p=597526
    http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=62767

I think this guy tried to start the subject, but got off on the wrong foot:

    http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=58067

And this sticky mentions "it's my style"

    http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?p=2539364

I was certain there was a thread about people defending themselves too much by hiding behind "style"... but maybe there should be a new thread? There's something to be learned from the wisdom people share in those threads, even if in many of them there's some troll baiting.

Certainly if we could cull the wisdom into a single place it would be a worthy addition to the site, no?

I think you're looking for a top 20 excuses thread, dont remember the name exactly, but it had a list of excuses people say after getting a critique

Thank you. That's a good thread; I was looking more for a thread where (smart) people gave reasons as to why "It's my style" is a flimsy excuse.

There are a lot of good answers to that question that approach it from several different angles.

I thought that thread imploded on itself.

EDIT: Yeah, because over time some people started to miss the entire point of the thread and started picking on lower level artists just because they were lower level.

But now I look and it's not locked like I remember. Huh.
