    udon head - cheers

Artezianin - Im drawing and painting in value alone rather than colour because Im trying to establish the basics of image making. Adding colour can be such a complex subject in itself that I like to break the image down into stages.

    KairhartJ - Thanks, much appreciated!

strange purple - yeah no worries I'll swing by today and leave something useful (I hope)

Nothing very exciting.. just something from this morning and some studies and notes from Kekai Kotaki

Some more Jama analysis... I just love that guy's work! He said it himself somewhere in his sketchbook (which I've been through several times in its entirety) that he wants to make each piece look like the still of a movie frame. Although that's not always my intention, it is very interesting and I've learnt a lot about how he does this through my "analysis" of his pieces over the past few weeks.

Anyway.. something more exciting next time I promise.

Nice, I like how you evaluated your own studies by sharing your own notes on them.

    Hello ThomasM,

Nothing but compliments from me. It's a great pleasure to view your work. I've got to say your thumbnails/studies look fantastic. Also, the self analysis in the last post was really helpfull. I'm learning a ton just by viewing your notes .... values are hard, i'm currently struggling with that in my environments too. Also, you seem to have a nice dexterity when doing your thumbnails.

This beign said, I would really appreciate it if you could crit my sketchbook, you seem to have gotten the hang of some things that i'm currently struggling with so some insight from you would be really awesome.

    Thanks and subscribed.

Tea of Doom - Ive left a huge reply in your SB, and thanks for the support here.

Sean McClain - I'm gonna head over to your sb to see whats going on, cheers for stopping by

Mila - yeah, being analytical is the only way I can learn!

wilkerson - hah yeah its always a little hard to write on the wacom anyway, and my handwriting is particularly illegible.

Black sun s - ahh these arent my works, just analyses of some ofmy favourite artists.

This morning's work - getting there slowly! In comparison to the my imaginary landscapes at the top of the last page.. well.. they're not even comparable

    Attachment 1507377

..and my first tentative attempts at colouring a value piece properly (still prefer the grayscale one though)

Dont have time for big crits since I'm at work.
But these last couple of landscapes are really really good Tom. Your studying of composition is showing through a lot and your forms are looking a lot more coherent too.
This last one is really very nice.
