    Original digital art

I'm hoping someone who has had experience with this issue can offer some advice:

If you create digital artwork it will by definition be rendered as a print.
Small galleries and even some art groups seem to have difficulty getting their heads around the idea that a digital print could represent an original on-off artwork and generally see such a work as nothing more than an open edition print.
(I have had submissions for exhibit declined on this basis.)

While limited edition prints would contain a number & signature that identifies it as such a single print 'original' has no way of being identified other than as an open edition print.

Anybody have any ideas how to overcome this perception?

Yep - you could call it an AP (Artist's Proof) but that isn't exactly what it is. The closest thing to an "original print" is called a "Mono Print" which is a print from a plate, stone, screen, etc. that is somehow created in a unique manner that makes it a one-off. Usually with a unique ink application or sometimes ink or paint applied after it has been printed. I'm no expert but that's my understanding.

Ways around the "suspicion" that it is going to be open-ended would be to specify it as a "Mono Print" and offer a certificate of authenticity or some such thing that maybe dates when the digital file was deleted. Really digital work comes pretty close to photography in these respects. Photography really doesn't command the prices that original works do.

Anyway, good luck wihth it - I think there are ways to do it.
