poetry man: Thanks, I'm beginning to think I have some serious OCD lol. To be honest I consider it a weakness above anything; Being an artist involves putting aside what you necessarily think to be true and to draw as is... I think drawing from life will help me from that regard, which is something I need to pursue more often.

    kayness: I can't help myself

Lang Oulk: Thanks; In general I feel I draw very well with reference, so I'm going to be doing more live studies.

zou: Thank you. Heads I had a habit of drawing too small, now it seems I'm doing the opposite. Aigh!

bbwolf: Thank you, will continue attacking my weaknesses.

    cakeypigdog:
    Thank ya

fantasyartist: Thanks; Will put more effort in that regard.

    Gthm/death:
    Appreciate it

    Black Spot:
Thanks, been putting a lot of practice in that regard

    Doom-Breath:
    Thanks, much appreciated!

Jasper: Thank you, I agree I gotta slow down. It's a bad habit I guess I picked up from speedpainting I guess.

kiwigarbage: Who doesn't like boobs? I'm gonna start adding clothing on the figures though, my sketcbhook is starting to look like porn lol. Took your critiques in mind for the latest sketches as well, did some more varied faces, expressions, etc. Thanks for your honesty.

    mrd33ds: Thank you.

    The US Assassin: Appreciate it

vatteh: Thanks; I have to admit I don't really enjoy doing life studies, but it's something I need to start doing more often. Will give it a try when I get the chance.

mrd33ds: Thanks; As for timing, the shaded ones take a significant amount of time compared to the 'regular' ones, but they all vary. I'd say many 5 minutes each shaded face or figure.

    dragonkille: Appreciate it

    NickyBeats: Thanks and will do

jNeumann: Thank you, will keep at it!

    ThomasM: Thank you!

    AliceA: Thank you.

    .............................

Been slow with the updates, I apologize for that, need to update this thread more often. With that said, I did manage to do a bit of work. Several speedpaints, first one from imagination, other two are movie still studies (I Robot, and Crouching Tiger).

Also did a lot of perspective studies, faces (played around with expressions), and figure studies. I'm gonna attempt some life drawing on the next updates, that's an area I seem to be avoiding that I definitely need more practice on.

surrealistic: Thank you, the landscapes we're a lot of fun to paint and I learned quite a bit, I'll definitely be practicing more of those in the future.

pisces_painter: Thank you, glad to hear you enjoy my work!

    Brandon Pilcher: Appreciate it.

slence: Glad to hear that, good luck with your studies as well.

    Klaus Reinbach III: Thank you!

    .............

Today's updates, doing more perspective studies and more studies on torsos as well, which I feel I'm getting a better grip of thanks to Hogarth's approach.

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook! Fantastic studies! I love how clean you pencil lines are and how fluid they flow. I'm also liking your head studies and the different proportions each head has. Love how you take your time to do the perspective studies as well. Keep this up and hope to see more!

Aresa: Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoy my work!

Sean McClain: Thanks and will do!

    ..........

Was in the mood for some speedpainting today, did one based on a movie still from 'Batman', and one from 'Kill Bill', in addition to a photo study of a skull. Lots of fun with these:

eyestrain: Thank you, and will do!

Silwynar: No problemo As for the heads, I plan on tackling Loomis 'Head and Hands' book again, that should definitely help me out a lot in regards to playing with different shapes and proportions.

    .............

Today's updates, pretty much nothing but torsos from imagination as well as a few anatomy books:

Butts. Look at these taken from this page. Observe the curve and consider them hard. They are not sexy.

I didn't think it was possible to be called an artist when you have nothing to say. It's like being a writer who publishes individual words as books and expects to be praised for it.

Hey dude I randomly clicked on your sketchbook from a thread and I like what I see here, you are working hard and it tells.
Let me give you few words of advice though as some one who is on the same road as you are and studying loomis heads as well, don't get used too much to the loomis heads look and what I mean by that is try to sketch your own way into creating heads, further more you are not progressing that much with your heads nor your figure because you are not working enough with real ones, go to deviantart, Flickr or just google for some good photography search for nudes and portraits then collect as many as you feel necessary and start copying and when you copy don't do it like a mindless zombie but keep thinking of what your doing and what your learning in the process, pay close attention to relation of facial feature to each other such as eye to nose nose to mouth mouth to chin the overall look and size of everything... eventually after few hundred heads you will be much more lose and you will identify problems a lot faster, helped me hope it will help you too.
hopefully after a lot of studies from reference you will see how much better your imaginative works are, try it out it works

Great studies as always bro. I totally agree with what Danny K said. Work more with reference of real people to get more variety in your head and figure work. Also your structure is still sloppy in some areas. Keep thinking in 3d the whole time and pay special attention to getting the joints right. The movie stills are looking really good by the way. Keep it up!

woooah...soooo many studies, incredible dedication, however, i'd like to see you put some of it to use in the middle of these studies, show us some of your imagination, it'll sink in, and not kill your soul

either way, keep it up! the hard work is inspiring!

Yo man! Nice dedication! Especially those pages and pages of Head studies I see. Lol, you must really love heads. But uhm.. I would agree with this dude right here, when he says:

haha! I see that too still.

well, here's my personal crit... I'm not sure if you're going for a style thing, or if your just fond of the studies... but maybe you SHOULD try some style changes. Maybe, try experimenting with different artist styles. I'm sayin that bcuz I see almost no variance in your mannequin and gesture studies. Not your poses, your poses are awesome!

I think I'm talking about your approach here. It's like you have it down to the teeth already, and your "too" comfortable with it, lol.. man, Go out and try maybe abstract mannequins, or forget the mannequins, try 1 line gestures, or blind contours, or box gestures.. blah blah blah for me...

sorry for ranting lol! But keep up the inspirations man. You can make it!
