    hi there

    thanks for stopping by sb.

you like a lot mood and atmosphere in your pics, me too

but a great artist once said (ingres i think ): draw lines, lines lines. even to depict smokes, draw lines.
and copy a lot before drawing from imagination

    Hi!
I just took my time, checking out your sketchbook. I don't find myself an authority on criticisizing other's art but i want to tell my opinion =)
Colour palettes you use on your coloured artworks are cool. Color is my weakness mostly, and i did love the palettes you used.
As for b/w sketches, you need more lineweight if you ask me. it's like all the lines are drawn with the same pencil pressure, and it makes it kinda hard for me to read it.
Thanks for commenting on my sketchbook =)
Let's keep up the good work ^^

You need to work on the fundamentals: Line and Form. Draw from Life as much as you can, still life, people. environment and so on.

roselyn - Thanks, yeah, I need to start working with more pencils on the same drawing. I'm thinking of buying a decent quality sketching mechanical pencil for the more precise stuff. Thanks for looking at my SB!

Kfeeras- definitely! I have yet to overcome my shyness of drawing in public but It needs to be done if I ever will get better, so. yeah thanks for posting on my SB!

    Bishop.- Thanks, mate!

good effort, use stronger values to make your object stand out, in this case use more blacks and stronger line for your knight for him to stand out of the entire painting, use weaker lines and values for background to make the subject to stand out even more.

    huhu :> *me - again?* ;D

your doing fine - keep studying.

maybe you should put more effort into shading(rendering) the anatomy studies

helps to remember the things better.

    Just another Journey...

Danny_K - Thanks, yeah, I definitely need to start using darker pencils for the foreground. That would definitely help.

Hello Olivepalm. Thank you for stopping by my sketchbook and for the kind words.

Your studies are looking good. May I suggest, when doing your studies, simply take your time. Your pencils look rushed and I think your work can improve with simple attention to detail. Also When working in Photoshop try flipping the canvas horizontally every once in a while and work it at the angle a bit then switch back. You will quickly see the errors in perspective and anatomy doing that. The same effect can be achieved with your pencil works by looking at it in a mirror. Try out those techniques early in your work before rendering.

Jonathan C- Thanks for all the advice. WILL DO!

a little piece I did for my dad for Father's day. He's really into film noir so I did a quickie with a dark feel to it. I know, the dude is crappy, he shouldn't be too, cause I did him from reference. But I think I established the mood quite nicely. But what do I know? Right? ...Right?

I think you are using way too much black in some of the paintings (mainly the digitals). You should introduce some reflected lights too, otherwise, just keep drawing and doing studies. Great job!

I know it's been some time visiting this thread, but if you're still up to word of advice on your pencil sketches - Try to avoid using the side of the pencil when shading, and use the tip more. It will enable you to practice precision in tone and in form. Or, it would be useful to try drawing with mechanical pencil. It's a little bit more cleaner, and sharper.

Take your time in the first few studies. It will help you to understand the form more, and produce drawings you want to be proud of. It usually gives more motivation to do more, and the more practice you do from there the easier it will come eventually.

So far, good progress. Don't stop drawing (:
