Thanks for hopin on my ass about studies. I definately need to get back to them.

You study haaard. Your photostudies are really good and so are are your self portraits you seem to have that really subtle lighting down. I'd like to see you get really ambitious and just try to tackle something overwhelming and see how far you get. Cuz from your studies you seem to know what things to nail.

Raffix - Thanks man glad you enjoy some of my work.

ryanoir - Hey man thats all im asking for too! haha, I need to bust my ass and put in some over time to do imaginative stuff, it is coming though!

    Lyno - thanks Lyno!

Mooglesarelittle - thanks, yeah, most of the time I have trouble with the pallete. For me its usually lots of trial and error til I get it. Or Il just get the general gist of it by thinking in terms of warm and cold colors etc.

Aveh - heh no problem man! I really dont study hard enough Thanks man, I think maybe I do need to be a bit more ambitious about my imaginative work.

4 Photo studies, I was working on these pretty small, just trying to get the hue value and chroma right and not really caring how I put em down.

Your 100 heads challenge is a great idea. Ive never done so many in one sitting, but its worth a try. Good work with the figure sketches and self portraits. Was the ninja warrior figures from static pics or from literally watching it on TV and visually catching as much as you can? That also seems like a good exercise.

    Happy 2011 everyone!

jNeumann - Thanks man Though im afraid im going to have to give you a small update for now! God damn college work

vatteh - It is a good idea! Not mine though, and also you should know it took me around two weeks Man I so wish I could do all that in one sitting! Also the ninja warrior sketches were from youtube clips, so I could get the precise poses I wanted, had I been sketching directly from tv they would look a HELL of a lot more primitive, maybe just lines and scribbles I had vilppu's lecture of box forms in my head when I was drawing them so I just drew them simply like that, trying to get direction and poses right but also thinking about how the body works.

Trying to relearn the ol oils (first two). The rest are with acrylics, the oils were being too temperamental. Still mixing colors is a bitch! But I wont be deterred, I know that mastering traditional mixing of colors and learning color schemes will give me skills that digital means just cant. Hopefully I can find some time in the future to do more.

OmertA - yeah thanks man, I feel like for the first time I have possibilities to make my imaginative stuff half decent now, its all starting to tie together, but stupid college work is getting in the way. Yeah I got color and light before Christmas and was reading it non stop, that's why I did the oil and acrylic painting haha, I want to get better at mixing. And then got imaginative realism Christmas day best Christmas ever! Im also gathering questions to ask him because hes a super awesome guy and will probably respond!

Parsakoira - Thanks man, Its funny that I make you want to sketch because I feel like the only reason I sketch is from seeing other peoples sketches and thinking holy shit that's awesome im so ashamed for not doing stuff like that! haha

witcrack - thanks man! my biggest fan haha. Im still not learning hardcore enough! GAH need to puuuuuuush iiiiiit...

teapo - Thanks! If something like a type of study I want to do comes into my mind, it will haunt me till I do it lol I think that's why I do different ones. Theres a couple that are plaguing my mind right now

HON!X - Thanks Happy 2011! Hope you excel in art this year.

NeonDuck - thanks, sometimes I forget that at my level mistakes are my friend! haha. If you think this is alot of studies its not nearly enough by my standards or should I say, expectations.

I was sick there for a little over a week, couldnt do anything the whole time. Not a good time to have hand ups for college.
Anyway, just stretching my painting muscles with some expendables movie still studies and a Bruce Willis portrait!

nice as always marc, but in the bald man still, the light's purple halo (thing) feels a bit too 'photographic' to me. Not saying it's bad though, the complementary yellow/blue/purple makes it look nice and bright

phew, good updates mate. Maybe it will be easier for us to give comment on the studies of you post the reference too. Everything looks good, maybe Bruce Willis (3rd expandable still study) is lacking some saturation / is too muddy.
