yo man, love that creature concept. Thats pretty rocking!
That DSG is lookin' cool aswell, but man...perspective is off..
that circle on top should have the same centre point as the bottom circle,
right now it looks crooked. Love the combination of soft and hard edges.

Two paintings from a month ago in life drawing class. The objective was basically use local color.... and that was it pretty much! I messed up so bad in that class because my palete kept getting filthy leaving me with muddy colors and frustration!

Last weeks class. We were away for a month so instead of painting we just did shape to shape drawings, which I love! And then some gestures.

This weeks class we were using set color palates which was AWESOME. AND there was only 3 of us so UBER feedback was given.

This was using I think 3 colors next to eachother on the color wheel.

Hi Malakuko, really very nice updates. Hehe, I actually love them all . For the last pose, his right leg is too long or his feet must be placed flatter but maybe you were about to fix it.

Lyno - Hey, thanks man, I believe I like your studies also! I did actually run out of time on that one so maybe your right, I cant remember

Hamorhage - thanks dude, you not keeping up with your sketchbook? or have you forgotten about it

Mischeviouslittleelf - Thanks Colors are awesome! and I aint high when I say that haha. Yeah gota do more Ford, maybe Il do some Indiana Jones studies.

Had to take a little break after college finished last week. And I couldnt post before that, I was WAY too stressed out. Anyway Ive un-wound now and im ready to get into a routine, there just so much of my art I want to develop I really have to make out a schedule or something. I have more plans but I wont mention them yet in case I end up not doing them haha

Failed self portrait, it lost direction. I think im more comfortable doing long studies only if I have line work nailing down all the features n stuff.

Just a photo study I did to get back into digital painting, hasnt been THAT long but theres a huge difference from doing it every day to like once a week.

Watching Vilppu lecture today and I just wanted to sketch along to take in as much as I could
    Attachment 980742
These last two are using what I learned from Vilppu. Its amazing how much I was able to explore on these guys faces from only one hour of Vilppu's lecture, cant wait to finish it !!
    Attachment 980745

    Attachment 980747

Yeah all I got so far is observational stuff but there is definetly alot of concept stuff coming!!!!!!!!!
My personal imaginative paintings are my focus for the summer, im totally free to explore.
I want to finish that battle scene I was working on. Also theres this starcraft 2 painting I wana do (desperate for a beta key).

Also I had some thoughts about a process for bringing my paintings to a decent finish.

Give me your thoughts on this

    Idea
    Thumbnails
    Rough sketch
    Clean up
Color sketch (nothing tonal yet, just blocks)
Then for lighting I was thinking of setting a mock of that up in 3DsMax, got to put all that knowledge to use.
Quickly lay in tones in B&W
    Color layers
    Over paint
    Finishes

That will all probably change/ Il figure it out when I go to do it but yeah thats what I was thinking

I would like to know peoples thoughts on using 3D to set up lighting though! Good/Bad?, For/Against?
Personally I think its a pretty good Idea considering alot of Illstrators go to similar but more costly lengths to ensure a realistic finish. And of course it would have to not be used as a crutch but just an aid. Yeah tell me what ya'll think.

Nice studies so far! Making real good progress with figures and digital work.
Pay more attention to cast shadows in your imagination work, it can really help bring out form, especially where objects overlap.

I agree with previous post, there's some great quality and variety here. Excellent gesture drawings and digital paint studies--something I hope to be doing myself soon. I'd love for you to stop by and give me some pointers when I do. you definitely seem to be on the right track!
