Still life studies. Thought it might be fun to paint plasticine then change its shape and paint it again.

When Bobby chiu first started making youtube videos I remember him saying that every morning he would do a master study. Then paint it from memory. And then paint a painting from imagination using what he learned. I think il give that a try for a while. Hopefully I dont tap out too soon.
So heres my first one. A portrait by Anton Azbe.

Mannish the manly minotaur is finished.
Adventure time fan art. Love that show so much. I dont know why I wanted to paint Mannish, Ive only seen him in one episode. He was just so nice even though hes all muscularly muscular so I thought he deserved to be held up high and admired.

Great work man. The colors pop nicely and the composition works. You've really grown like crazy over the past few months. I'm ashaimed I haven't been able to keep similar pace, but that's gonna change. Actually your comment in my sb got me picking up still-lifes again. I'll definately force myself to stick with daily studies from now on if this is the outcome.

ismo - Thanks man! Heh Its funny because when you said do studies as you do a painting, that got me thinking, Ive spent way too long working observationally. So im trying to be more imaginative now

Parsakoira - Thanks Im starting to better think about what I do. No more college to distract me.

Been working on this Ogre painting I started a while ago. Changed it alot, it was just boring!
Should be done soon, then onto the next painting woo.

Thought I'd stop by having seen the ogre in the S&M stream. Really nice sketchbook here Marc! Great to see the studies coming in and paying off!
Incidentally, what do you mean when you say painting from memory? Are you doing the study and then painting it again afterwards without looking at the original or your copy?

Best of luck and keep up the great work!!!

Just went through the entire thread... whoa... your ability with charcoal is admirable... those lines... lifedrawings... all of it is insanity. 5 stars.

The animations and Disney stuff was especially cool.
