Cube's Traveling SB: Resurgam Studios
Hey guys. I've been a member here for 3 years now! I've been posting for some time but I still have a long ways to go before I can become a professional concept artist for the gaming industry. I'm currently working as a matte painter and doing freelance work. I'm looking for an entry level position in the gaming industry and eventually want to work up to a conceptual artist position. So with that being said, rate my work honestly and tell me what you think and I'll make sure I'll hit up your SB and do the same. So lets get this party started. Cheers.

Some observation Sketches. I really want to break away from my stiffness.

So I'm going to celebrate my anniversary by redesigning cool old school, game characters. This week, I'm gonna focus on Quake 1: one of my favorite games when I was a kid. Its cool medieval, Sci Fi Horror themed shooter inspired me to draw. I drew so many of these characters as a kid and to do it again is really exciting. Here's the Enforcer. Cheers.

Here's the Shambler. I made my version a little more agile and smaller than the original design. Maybe I'll make a heavier version of him just cause.

Here's the knight. I gave him an iron horse mask with no eye hole. I think it gives him more of an undead personality.

Hey cool stuff man, I like your character redesigns. Your drawings and sketches are great, looks like you've got a good grasp of anatomy, and so far I like them better than your paintings. I think you just gotta refine your rendering technique when your painting them so that the design doesn't suffer from the presentation. Good luck man keep at it!!

Heya, love ur work, how do you come up with the ideas and start getting them on paper im useless

Jasper: Thanks man. I need to work on presentation for sure. I'll work on that in the next couple days.
Ghosd: Thanks man. I just get my inspiration from my child hood games. When I get that feeling of creativity I quickly grab a pen and jot down thumbs. those thumbs are usually my foundation for all my ideas.
I think this guys name is the armagon. Correct me anyone if i'm wrong. Cheers.

Here's the Scrag which is a wraith like floating corps that shoots out weird glowing beams that look like urine. This character I changed most out of all my designs and turned him into a flying robotic shrimp. I originally wanted him to be more organic and zombie like but I loved my thumb too much to pass him up so I took him into another direction. Let me know if you dig it.

I had a little trouble trying to figure this guy out with his long awkward limbs. He almost came out too much like a goblin or troll but I was satisfied with the end results.

This guy was hard because I would always draw out a Texas Chainsaw character. So I added some more robot trash into his design which helped. I pushed it a little too much with is face but it was fun.

Haha I remember some of these, the ones with no face like the Shambler and Fiend were always creepiest. Your takes on them are really nice, mixed with your paint skills they will look awesome

Jordan85: Thanks Jordan85! Love your line work!
Rich_C: Since the characters are so low poly there's so much room to recreate and thats what makes it so much fun. I'm glad you like em.
