Hey cool... it's one of my suggestions. Does this mean I'm obligated to participate? I'm off out, but I'll try to do something later on.

*Note to self: Try to stay sober tonight.*

Hagac - Love the anamorphic look. Real gritty.

OLSEN - great brushes and shadowy characters.

kaptah - Sweet. Overcoats and rain!

Thanks for posting those links, Digital. I saw todays topic and drew a blank, so having some sort of ref will help!

Plus, now that I think about it, there's always Blade Runner, but I don't have time to watch it today.

So far i love all the images. Especially kaptah.. good atmosphere.
I'm no good with painting in colors (nor bw), but gicing it a show later after practice. Just need to take a snapshot of the lines from paper, and see what happens Hope it's gonna work out.. no scanner.

    Love noir mood

BTW awsome brushes on OLSENs, and i really loved yours Hagac.. perhaps because that was how i was first picturing this topic painted

Thanks for the comments, but the brush i used is a preset brush found in painter8, so i cant´really take any credit for it. The brush is called scratchboard rake, give the brush a try if you have the program, it´s great fun.

Hazzard's sketch influenced me to work really quicky and entirely in photoshop. No pencil drawing this time. This took me about 20 minutes.

dunno if this is very futuristic, but i've gotta study hard to master environments with interest...

they're much harder to do than characters imo,bc you cannot say "this thing has this function,so it must be there".a stone can be anywhere in a landscape and have no function at all....that's one reason i find environments so hard to do.

GKSmith id never worked in black and white before now and the lack of colour realy does force you to work quicker and concider form alot more. I realy enjoyed it I think I might try more of this.

Hazzard. I think im going to continue black and white as well and maybe afterwards, glaze in some color, like the old masters. Black and white is a lot faster. I also think maybe I should have used a reference for the figure and background. Did you start yours on a black background or white or a grey? Mine started of with a grey of about 60% I believe.

okay i tired of working on it. Yeah very much inspired by dark city. I agree B&W is suitable for this topic, but a blade runner and matrix are considered a form of noir, so i think any color in high contrast and shadows works.

2 and a bit hours, 1 of them spent trying to get his face not to look like Odo from DS9.

Call me captain cliche but I had to do bladerunner for this, I used a reference for his head.
