What's really nice is that the photo studies don't look as they're from photos.

I didn't think it was possible to be called an artist when you have nothing to say. It's like being a writer who publishes individual words as books and expects to be praised for it.

dude! fechin head studies?! youre awesome! and crazy! that guy would be so hard to emmulate, but youve done a great job. i could tell write away without ever having seen that portrait. you've got some great chaos going in that old man portrait.

be careful about relying to heavily on your line to define form when doing such tonal drawings. yeah fechin does have some pronounced lines, but they are the exception rather than the norm. you've put a pretty solid line around her mouth the first girls, and since the rest of the picture is somewhat tonal, it stands out as lip liner rather than just the edge of her lips. (of course, i havent seen the original, and i suppose its possible he did that too)

TAD must be doing good for you I´d be fairly interested in knowing your opinion about TAD must be fairly positive for you sure. Awesome stuff keep it up. Oh and that collab you´re doing with hunchback is raaaaad.

Wow your face studies are really nice! What medium are you using? looks almost like pencil mixed with digital, but maybe its some kind of graphite stick?

Also are they from photo reference? Looks really good!!

Surus- Thank you for dropping by, you are welcome any time good sir!
Danny K- Haha, cheers! I'm actually from Portland, we've got a theatre here called the hollywood theatre. The guy in the drawing sat around for a while while I was doodling asking for change and stuff so I had to put him in in some way or another. Thanks for dropping in man!
Jskotte-Thanks! I think I usually spend about 4-5 minutes per person, or as long as they are sitting still will allow. Cheers!
    Alexson-pew pew pew pew!
Rotor- Thanks man! I'm finally rediscovering how much fun drawing really is after years of lethargy and silly doodles.
tja88-thanks man, another tadpole woot woot! Yea I gotta get back to that poster tonight, cheers!
    Teundeboar- Thanks man! Cheers
Hammajamma- Lets do it man! you've got some good stuff, cheers.
JoeS- Thanks man, when I'm working with line I think the biggest thing is trying to think of the form turning in light, dark pressure on the pencil when its passing into shadows, light lines crossing across brighter areas. Thanks for dropping by man!
    Incinerated-Thanks man!
Ricardo Robles- thanks for dropping in, your creatures are awesome!
    Jaskotte-hehe Thanks!
Defiledvisions- You dirty dirty boy, dirty dirty boy.
Joe- Yea the bridgman stuff helped loads, but I've found its best to try and make a conscious effort to both a. not just copy but try and truly understand what your doing and b. keep drawing. studying from it allll the time, which I've recently started sluffing on and can feel it starting to slip and ooze out of my brain. Thanks man! I'll be keeping an eye on your book too!
Tasser-Thanks man, I always like seeing that your book is constantly on the front page, keep kicking ass man!
Kostas- Yea I gotta get off my lazy seat and start pushing colors around though, thanks for the constant visits man! You are crushing it!
    papervampire-Thanks man
    NEXT- Thanks dude! agreed.
Jordy-Hey thanks again for dropping by man! I've really been trying to loosen up as the past few years all my stuff has felt very tight and constricted. Cheers!
Shambok- Haha thanks man! What is life without a few beers and some good laughs eh?
Blackspot- Yesss Ma'am, thanks for all the visits! Cheers.
    Snootchy-Thanks for dropping in! Cheers.
Purb-Thanks man, thats very helpful! I gotta get back to some hand studies, I've been neglecting them for too long.
ryan a.-Thanks man, haha for the past few months its been work work draw draw draw draw eat sleep repeat. Feelin that buuuuurrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnn.
8bit-will do man, thanks for the support! cheers.
Ninjac- Oh hey, like, see you in class mebbe? Pen and ink is gonna be soooo much fun. woop woop!
Hunchback-Got cho email mang, lets do this damn thang!
    Blackspot- Thanks!
Kostas-Thanks man, always like having you in hurrr. Cheers!
    Shambok-Thanks man!
[Ste]- Thanks for swinging by man, you've got some wicked good stuff going on in your book!
Parsakoira- Thanks dude! Your digi's are awesssssoooooommmmeee!
Krato-thanks dude, yea I'm digging the hell out of what Michael put down over the lines, its gonna be a blast to paint on.
    Bleo- Thanks man!
    Klaus-Cheers, thanks for stopping by!
    Vatteh- Thanks!
    Eddieee-Thanks man!
Ryan- Hahaha whats it now, 4? naww 6!
Ryan A.- Haha thanks man! Yea I think I went a bit too heavy on the lines on the lips as well, they are there in the original though, just not laid in with such a heavy hand. Thanks for dropping by!
Jordy- Thanks man, TAD is great I'd reccommend it to ANYBODY seriously considering art schools of the illustration/entertainment art variety. The information that is widely available is unbelievable and the work the professors put into giving feedback to students is very humbling, awesome stuff all around and the classes provide some good laughs too! Not to mention the student body is allllll incredibly motivational.
8bit-Thanks man, the above portraits are all compressed and vine charcoal. Thanks for dropping by again!
    wi2rd-thanks man!
Benjie-Thanks dude, I replied a bit above, I'd check out some of the student feedback threads in the TAD section of the forums, Simon Boxer and Jon, as well as Jama and a few others have posted some really good stuff about the school, cheers!
Krato-Thanks mang, you as well, although I'm still waiting for some updates. AARRGH!
Alright heres some quick stuff I've been working on, we have to design our dream studio, mine is going to be inside a giant walking gun tank. Been oggling Sam Brown's stuff for quite some time, the guy is a huuuuuuge inspiration and he wields sketchup like a BO$$, not to mention all his industrial tech is just like WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWWWWW! Here are some basic designs, pencil sketches and then some quick sharpie ones, I think in the end I want to do the interior on paper with the exterior blueprints of the walker itself on some sort of tracing paper or mylar so you can flip it back and forth, hopefully it'll be like one of those incredible cross section books. Thanks for all the support guys! and as always, comments and crits are greatly appreciated. cheers!

balliiiiiiiiiin! man your sculptures are looking crazy, love your hard work and creativity. I think what would be a big boost for you is improving the way you depict form. That usually comes down to value studies with pencil but you can totally do it in Photoshop or whatever you want. You'll end up with object that really look cognitive instead of the hazy shading and linework you've got going on in your portraits. As you begin to get a grasp on where the light is hitting the subject you can also start learning how light interacts with the material and so on. Since you're already making some badass sculptures I bet you'll be a natural.

Oh hey dude! Solid work! Love the mech designs, especially the ones in marker. And I've had a thing for your sculpture stuff since you started this sketchbook, great to see more of it. Also, I didn't know you were part of TAD now, thats sweet! Definitely looking forward to seeing your improvement.

Looks like a lot of fun to do. Would be nice if you could make it in sketch-up as well.
