Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
quick sketch for the night, could probably crop it for a stronger composition, and a z brush face started from basic topology. markings don't mean anything just playing with brushes and this looked good so i rolled with it. We'll say there tribal or something
keep at it! loved the matte painting
Great work with all the enviros. Keep practicing the portaits also. Do all kind of studies. Self portraits, value studies etc. You'll get there. Get a good foundation with values and after that, start with colors. When doing skin tones, use different hues for lights and shadows. If light tones are warm, then shadow tones are cold etc. Also try using smaller saturation with light values and higher with dark. Experiment.

Just another Journey...

Sorry to spam updates, just a final doodle beofre bed, putting some colour in, still not sure i like it
Oh nice sketchbook. The Samurai armor mecha looking cool so far!
Mmmh seeing your ZBrush face, you are good with it?
Hi! Thanks for commenting in my SB! Lots of good work in here. I especially like the Zbrush face from 9/27. Keep it up!
These are looking great! The robots are awesome, and I like your use of colour in your environments. (I usually get scared of putting any detail in so I just have a plain background and fill it in at the last minute) but the brushes and colour you use combined make the background feel more alive. I especially like the waterfall piece you did a few pages back it stood out from the others. Look forward to seeing more!
Klaus Reinbach III: Cheers, na i'm just teaching myself Z-brush I'm not that good :p
NicG: Cheers man
zzyzx: Ty Z, yea it was feeling very stiff I need to go back and fix it up
Mincx: Cheers man! glad you like it
So I've had a rough couple of weeks. Had some personal problems so I've had to leave my course for the year, and i took 3 weeks off while i tried to sort everything out So now i have 3 months off until I can resume my course in the next intake so the samurai mecha has been put on hold, but I'm thinking I'll try and nail it in my spare time.
Haven't drawn in about a month I've had to much going on but I finally got a picture out, its rubbish XD but now I have 3 months to practice so expect regular updates!
Heres a song to keep you company

loving your art
hey i dont know if u have seen or not, but tutorials on deviant art for realism. Since I noticed ur painting of Cloud. Just in case you wanted to push one some more. I would give u the link, but the network im on right now blocks dev art bc of nudity. but im pretty sure if u type in "realism tutorial" youll find it. the one im thinking of is a similar photo to the one u referenced of cloud. hope this helps man, keep it up
my subconscious does not stop begging my conscious to draw.
hmm does that mean im a slave to my subconscious?
at least it doesnt beg for crack. ha.
hiya Oatestwdr, thanks for the kind words in my sb!
Definitely looks like u got a fun journey ahead of you and glad that u made the switch or dedicated to becoming a better 2d graphic artist! I can tell that you have a good background, whereas u mentioned in ur earlier post that u were doing photography and 3d stuff, because u have some really nice compositions going on in ur sketches! The sketches I like the best are those of the mountains, especially this one, captured a really nice realistic mood and values (i think particularly y this works is because it's loose and has a lot more information compared to ur portraiture or figurative works)
my one resolve to this is go do life figure drawing, u will learn loads even if u don't finish sketches there, u will catch things of how tones transition on the body, where hard edges exist, anatomy and get an eye for proportions and so onI'd really love to learn figures as I'm terrible at them if you know of any resources point me in that direction!
I'm liking the progress and see some really nice improvements in the short time, keep up the hardwork, u'll be superstar in no time!
snootchy: Thanks man! that means alot, Im gonna keep trying!
Been away for a while, but hopefully now I'm back for good. I've been slacking, time to start a new year.

So I'm finally back in class, time to finish up this project! Its been a while and its hard to get back into the right frame of mind, but I'm aloud to continue with the same project instead of starting allover again so that helps. heres a tibit from my first day back, just easing myself in going back over my mech.

This is a mock up of the mecha body in Z-brush just so i could get a feel for the parts. The final model will be built in maya and probibly wont involve zbrush at all unless i can convince my tutor to let me use it
Not finished yet, still a work in progress but I've been on an Andrew jones binge. The man is a god
