I like the way you took a few standard exercises and stock image, and gave them your own personal twist!
I particularly liked the wall.e and the bull digi exercise that you transformed into a traditional study, very nice result too.

I would suggest you do more flow-proportion studies, quick 30 sec or 5min studies, to really feel those masses.

Looking forward to your next updates.

    Thanks very much!

And yeah, BlackDelphin, some speedier studies would definitely help. I've been doing some, but should probably be more frequent with them.

Here's my first assignment from the KC workshop; the goal was to create a readable piece with only value and shape, no line whatsoever. Quite a fun challenge, and I think it turned out pretty well. :3

Way too much smudging and smoothing everywhere - especially on human skin. You should experiment with flat shading too. When it's used wisely it can be much more effective than smooth transitions. Also don't forget to play around with hue and saturation when painting skin. The border of shade and light is generally more saturated - and you can even use some light green or blue on skin to spice it up and make it look more interesting.

Thanks, Alex! Glad you like! 8D
And sleep is fun, and hard to come by nowadays.

    Here's some more stuff.
The first is a master copy of a piece by A.B. Frost.
The second is a collaboration with a friend for another friend's birthday.

Havin' fun in TAD, working hard, need to go draw more! :B

His eyes are really distorted, ones a bit too long and they are a tad far apart. keep up all the hord work mister.

    Thanks, guys! Glad you like!

And yeah, I noticed his stretched out eyes after I finished it. That's a consistent weakness of mine, definitely something to work on!

And work on it I have! Here's a commission I did for someone over on dA. Really tried to focus on getting those eyes right, as well as the subtle forms on the face. Quite pleased with the outcome. :3

Three more bust commissions, a master copy of a drawing by Prud'hon, and a still life I started on today in Painter.

I love your character pieces and the colours and tones on your portraits. I only recently started using photoshop and am struggling a little with colour as I used to draw mainly in pencil or biro pen so your work is quite inspiring.

Stop your grinning and drop your linen! Found them!

Sorry for the inactivity lately, been super busy with school and relocating. Gonna do my best to update more regularly!

I'll probably post some more TAD work soon, but for now here's some personal stuff to munch on.

Watch the arms on the last girl. they are kind of long. keep it up Jon! you should tint that whole still life blue and paint in some caustics.

Thanks for ze crit, Alex! And what? Caustics? That's brilliant, I should've thought of adding caustics, that must be why I've been struggling so much lately, need more caustics, the key to all art is caustics! Caustics! *axplodes*

    *unaxplodes*

Now that we're through with the acausticlypse, here's some moar stuff!

And lastly some progress on my current personal piece. Feeling pretty good about it so far; it's still pretty rough, the smaller areas still need lots of refinement, but I think it's coming along well.
