Join 500,000+ Artists
Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
Well, uhm.. Hello my name is Poi Poi (Most people just call me Poi) and I've been a lurking member of CA for a long long time, I've been a bit afraid of uploading art here because there are just so many people that are good and have the time to practice art... As much as I want to do art, I really haven't got the time, so most of my things end up as sketches or doodles. I feel so sad about this, but I want to make a change, and pick up art a little more seriously, make time for it even when I don't have it. Therefore, joining CA is a good way to keep my motivation up! Thank you for your time, and here's a dump with some of the things I've made recently!
The sketchdumps are all drawn in paintchat, each of the picture/character/drawing has between 1-10 minutes of worktime, therefore I just call them doodles because they're in no way refined at all and are just winged.
Edit: Everything on this post is entirely from my imagination

Thank you all for your kind words! I really wish I could somehow systematically practice drawing/painting, but I'm not sure where to begin... does anyone have any good ideas?
Anyway, here are some doodles and sketchwork/concept work from yesterday:
My friend said ruins in the sky, I made it a little city instead.
No characters in this version.
Doodles; I wish I had more real work to show...
I would really love it if anyone could hint me on how to put together a good schedule for practicing, I've never had a goal so I've got a hard time making one now...
Damn, pretty cool stuff for one day only.
Besides the awkward pose of the guy in top right and maybe some mis proportions in general, I dont know what is there to fix.
In any case, I know you do these pretty darn fast, so making some small mistakes is nothing you wont fix as you become better.
About the work schedule, dunno I try to draw all the time, but Im not really sure about WHAT I should draw, so i cant help you with that but >w6 good luck.

Your animestyle scetches are great, keep it up. I want more.

Nice stuff! i like your painterly stuff.
To be honest, I've never done any color studies before and because of that I lack so much important knowledge of how to use colors correctly. I decided i should start practicing it for real now, before I even think about trying to even get in the business... -sigh-
These are referenced my own live desktop and from a photo.
Desktop: 1 hour time limit
Nude: 1 hour and 10 minutes

this is what I call - coming up with the big bang! Just an awesome start on your sketchbook. Hopefully you'll make regular updates. Keep it going, these are all good.
wow. you are very skilled as an artist, and even your doodles look better than my actual work. your 1-hour pieces look better than my 5-hour pieces hehe. even your color (which you was something you were weak at) isn't bad. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this thread, you should try to update it more regularly ;p
Btw, what do you do for a living? Are you currently working as an artist? Also, do/did you go to art school?
Looking forward to more
Ivan: Thank you Ivan, I want to try and make regular updates from now on. I took a long break, but hopefully, I won't again. I want to do more studies, as it's summer now and I'm on holidays from school so I'll have some more free time on my hands!
Xinhai: No, I haven't gone to an art school and I'm not currently working as a proffesional artist, but this fall, I really really want to attend an art school! Thank you for your note.
this is kinda unrelated, but what do you do for a living currently / what do you study. just curious ;D
btw digging that drawing of asuka, hehe, I used to watch eva. Photo reference or pure memory?

Hey man, awesome sketchbook. So inspiring!
Most people think they are much better then they are, they need a smack on the head to realize they aint pros yet.
But you are the opposite. Youve got some really high quality work here. The linework, shading, expressions..it all looks very solid.
Believe in yourself man, couse your honestly quite awesome
How long have you been doing those doodles anyway? You didnt start drawing in 2010, thats for sure
Keep im coming, looking forward to more!
Edit: You say you dont know what to practice..but before anyone can help you with that I think you need to let us know your goals. And if you dont know what your own goals are, you need to figure that out first.

You have some beautiful sketches my friend. Congratulations on your work.
As said above, before you can know what to study you need to know in what way you want to take your work. There are a million things you could study mate. For starters, I would sketch a lot from life. Nature is your biggest teacher.
Well, I cant say much more since your skill is much greater than mine. But just make sure never to stop drawing.
Thank you for the inspiration.
Awesome work man. The sketches are superb, is incredible how you can draw directly with this accuracy. Your work inspires no doubt.
As they said, practice from nature is a good way to learn. Anatomy practices is always good(although i believe you don´t need it much) I´d recommend you to go jumping between sketches and finished pieces, spending a bit more time in some of them just to going checking your illustration potential.
good luck man
wow your posts are so amazing! i wish you had begun with that sketchbook before, to see how you learned all that - maybe you can give me some hints or books i should be following? the colours of the "Venecian" styled picture with the masks - where your avatar is from - are amazing.. you're gorgeous!
ah, and i wanted to tell you how to subscribe to a thread; just go to the top of the thread, or to the first post and there you'll find "thread tools" and there you can click onto "subscribe to this thread" - good luck !
hOLY this looks amazing...all the accurate line works... i think u gotta work merely on your own self imagined and made character from now on so that u wont get distracted by other people's work
