Wish you luck with looking for a job I feel your work is pretty good. It's something I'm trying to think about a lot lately. I feel my work is unexciting. Want to someday be able to make things that people will care about, I know no one really does right now XD
You asked if the images are boring or if they are exciting. I think maybe you just need to ask your self if hey are exciting to you? I think if you learn how to make things that are exciting to you, then someone else out there would agree with you.
I think, you just need to just thinking, asking questions and making new work trying to answer that question.
Hope what I said makes some sense, and maybe helpful. Keep it up I think your work is pretty solid.
SgtBubbles: I looked at your blog. Not boring but you have a lot of studies on there and by nature they're kind of boring. Just do more stuff from imagination, you might actually learn more. Thanks for your support

loving those mechs man!!!!!
Inspired by some great game art from projects like Skyrim, Rage, and others I re-painted an old picture of a cave.
I like the sketches in #341 and #343 the most so far they remind me of tom sholes paintings
Everything is permitted
The traffic on CA has gone way down over the last year. For example last image received only 9 views, and looking at other sketchbooks very typical these days.
Back in 2011 images would get like 30 views. It certainly varies but I've been keeping track of some of the numbers and its disappointing. The mods would have a better picture of the overall stats but the reality is that this site is not as popular as it used to be and I think it has a lot to do with the prolonged down time, drama, etc that happened this year.
I'll keep posting anyway.
There are plenty of free 3d models out there and I've been collecting some structures for use in my enviro paintings.
I took this castle apart and built a scene around this stone bridge. Modified for sure. Going for a Diablo 3 kind of scene. Once I'm happy I'll take it into photoshop and start overpanting.
This is an impressive sketchbook!
My two cents on that orc character holding the staff. Looks like you are really trying to render the hell out of your characters, but I would recommend getting some good reference with good lighting and solve all the anatomical questions, and work on modelling form with basic values... Also, you are designing a lot of the other stuff very well, but you should also consider the design of the human figure. (take this stuff with a grain of salt, I'm still trying to figure this stuff out myself)
I agree about the site being not what it used to be. Even though I started out with my own sketchbook little less than 2 years ago I can clearly see that this site has been going down hill due to offline time and drama as you say. This makes me very sad really. It's great though that CA still have strong people like you that sticks through the pain and keep posting, it's what this site needs. Thankfully I feel like the site is becoming a little better, step by steps. It was basically dead after the update(s) and offline time. I don't know how many people left but the community passion that once I was feeling, was gone. Keep on posting, updates are looking good. The snowy landscape with the mystical stone door is great, feels very rocky.
Hahaha! Damn that Iron Man sketch up top is hilarious. lol (Tears running down cheeks) aaah, good stuff. Anyways INCREDIBLE thread Wilkerson, very inspiring and educational to those who are not quite at your level lol. Thanks for posting.
Thanks Palladium, glad you enjoyed it. It's fun to think about how much destruction is caused in these superhero movies that no one acknowledges afterwards.

Some work in progress
I would like to turn this one into something big and special.
man that second last environment is amaziiiiiiiiing
I've been designing supercomputers. This was a 2.5d zbrush picture that I reworked in photoshop based on images of gaming pcs and research into quantum computers.
The processing cores are modular, as are the memory drives. It's all guesswork really...but the future is very exciting.
dude your enviros are friggign awesome. I especially like the hexagon-icepillar one, it's so sweet!
