Oh yeah, I agree with Nlete : the rendering of the hair of the 2nd horse is awesome!
You always seems to be so natural when it comes to rendering. Maybe you're one of those people who are destined to be tonal artists (drawing purely using tone etc.)

SO this girl is curvy, she has like curves on curvers, very easy on the eye though( ) But my moms scanner is so shitting it didn't pick up any of the shading on the right arm (our left) and the left arm looks really shitty, it looks a lot better in RL then on the scan

So these were random martial arts poses that I found, there is a lot of forshortening (which I am not good at) which is why I am doing them so I can get better at doing them and they won't suck so much lol!

    Hey Diarum,

Horses are always fun to draw. Get yourself some toy animals-- best cheap drawing investment you'll ever make!

Not to worry : I can see the smooth tone of the left area of the girl's lower torso and legs!

Worthy challenge! You might also want to draw subjects (still life / people) in extreme perspective. That's a guaranteed case to see many foreshortening. Bert Dodson once said something like "Doing challenging foreshortening poses gives me a chance to show off my skill and guts".

Btw, Diarum, since you seem to like martial arts a lot and you posted that Bruce Lee quote in the other post, maybe you really like to watch martial arts-related movies? LOL

Not sure if you've seen Ip Man (1 and 2) over there in America, but if you haven't, here's some hot crazy fight scenes from the movie. Both the 1st movie and the sequel are hot over here in Asia:

    Fighting 10 black belts : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6QkSOUYWlo

    Fighting karate boss: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfyGCCXQzds

Fighting final boss from the recent sequel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKLcKQPH-8A

I demand you watch all these and do gesture drawings. LOL

I can see the shading somewhat it the woman, but her head seems low on her neck, and it's somewhat overpowered by her hair. The arms are a little on the small side, but not bad overall. Also try to think of the hair as more of a shape at first paying attention to where the darkest darks and lightest highlights are. One thing I realized was that it's not just a bunch of squiggly lines, the positioning of the strands plays an important part of how the hair interacts with the body. Also sight measuring is important, use your utensils, and try to relate all the lengths in the form to one specific area, if that makes any sense. For example, use the length of the head and compare it to the length of the arms, width of the torso, etc.

You draw alot, which is perhaps more important than _what_ you draw starting out (it was for me), and have alot of great people holding your hand on the way. Just keep going and im sure youll see improvement.

Try some different mediums if you can. Go to an artstore and just pick one of everything (different graphite H2-B6, chalk, colored pencils, charcoal, different ballpens, markers etc). Itll be alittle expensive maybe, but its worth it, just to have tried some different stuff and get the feel for it.

    Keep it up man

Kamber Parrk -Lol Now that you said something about it I have a lot of toys in my house from the little kids that come over (sister's kids)
Xeon_OND - I will try that not sure 100% what extreme perspective would look like though. Those videos are SOOOOOOOOOOO freakin sick, best fights I've seen in a while he vs the boxer was EPICx1000000000000. Thank you lots for linking those, I will so some poses from it when I get a chance
    PaintMyBrain - Thanks
Tafrid - Yea, I should spend more time on hair, I know that the shading on the hair could have been a lot better, thanks for stopping by and the CC. Lol yea the head is low on the body! damn I have problems with that
Krel - lol I will try and do some different mediums when I can some cash, money is pretty tight ( lack of a job, hopfully will change soon)

Wow! You're really putting a lotta work into this thread. (I gave a little crit on the arm on this figure over in your WIP posting. But, I think you've done a good job on developing and modelling the torso on this Spartan).

The boxer's a bit light, but it's still a fairly solid looking piece recognizable for what it is. Feet are a little off though.

    Keep it up!
