some stuff to look at. 7/31/11

my name is Ryan, and I go to SVA for traditional animation.

Tried getting myself to commit to a sketchbook a few times, but never stuck with it. Hope I do this time. Enjoy!

jPerols : thanks, i think im gunna put more digital paint on him/her/it.

another idea. it's weird how rasterized vectors become massive files. This ones 600k, and looks like hell.

    Ho Ho Ho!

What a start, huge potential you have.
I'm not sure you feel comfortable with color, but there's to little
pieces here to judge that. Cheers.

Good start to a sketchbook man, the life model sculpture looks real good. Keep it up and just update as much as possible. I'd like to see some more of those traditional paints.

Cool stuff. Love your value studies. I can see you have some traditional background which is always a bonus. You might want to show how the arms work anatomically rather than hide them behind his front shoulders. Keep posting!

Yo. This is a nice start. I love the sculpture and the four armed monster guy.
The only thing I can really say is that I'd like to see something finished.

Hey thanks for the comments yo's

    Aveh: im gunna.

Icecold: Your livin up to your name, hitting me about color, thats my main issue, i got some project ideas to remedy.

Metal Fingers: I haven't traditional painted in... years... that guys old, makes me so sad. Being an animation student, im more about the gestures now, but I been keeping my eyes peeled for a long-pose class.

cubesoflard: good catch. originally he had 2 arms, then I added the other two, and I guess it looked natural that way. ill keep it in mind for next time.

sketchibo: damnit! #$%^ finishing... i cant, i just cant! i'll try.

    More stuff coming!

I really like your sketches, especially that crow dude.
Your values are pretty good, too but I feel like you're really behind in color compared to your lines.
Since youre mostly starting out with b&w maybe you should try this.
1.Block in basic colors on an overlay layer
2.Use a color balance layer in order to differentiate the hues for different values
    3. Paint on top of all that, be very wary when it comes to saturation!
The right mixture of saturation is the key to good coloring, hue is not even all that important
