    Sketchbookery

    I've always enjoyed looking at people's sketchbooks here, and finally decided to step up and post! So here goes. I'm always happy to get crits, so bring it on if you wish!

    I'll just start off with a smattering of stuff from the last month or so. I guess you can't really split up words amongst the images here, so an explanation for the last two images - I was setting up little dioramas for composition and lighting studies, and I ended up painting over one of the pictures I took just for fun.

    Thank you both!

    Here are some black and white composition studies that I did for homework, a couple more studies from mongol, a plein air digital painting, a composition study that I might turn into something, and a tiger. I've got to start remembering to post over here so I don't do these big dumps. I've got some black and white gouache studies I'll be scanning soon as well as actual sketchbook stuff!

    Nice sketchbook. I really like your compositions and interesting use of silhouette. I would push values a little bit more in some of those paintings. It's something that will get better over time as you keep painting though .

    Cheers.

    @ZZGRST Thanks!

    @Farvus thanks, that's a good point

    Here's a bunch of stuff from the past week. Mostly thumbnails, nothing especially finished. Trying to work on values and composition. Also in this batch - zoo sketches and gouache studies done outside.

    Here is some homework I'm working on. Any suggestions would be welcome - I'm never too sure where to go from this stage to finish.

    Hi! Thanks for dropping by my sketchbook! I LOVE your stuff! The colours and lighting are so vibrant and gorgeous and I love your quirky style, especially the huts on stilts! 75 huts! How did you come up with so many designs? Do they just pop out of you like that? It's amazing! You are very good with layout and compositions too! Gorgeous stuff!
