Lots of different stuff in here, nice to see. I may suggest doing some tighter drawings or paintings, that oil portrait is something along those lines. I would rather do 30 one hour paintings than one 30 hour painting, but still, sometimes it's good for a change.

Good studies as always! I looked through your SB and one thing that caught my eye is the difference between the solid, fluidly drawn figures drawn from life and the varying quality of your figures drawn from head. There are some proportion issues like too long arms or legs, too big hands and awkward poses. Nothing huge but it caught my eye because your referenced stuff is so great. On the last page I was happy to see some Bridgman studies. Would be great to see more of those from you because his blocky way of constructing the figure is great for drawing from head. Also, with his method with the three cubes, it's easier to set figures in perspective on pieces like this one. I really like the life brought by the different poses and the action happening but there are weird things happening with the perspective - the guy on the left looks tiny (if he's a midget, the head should be bigger) and even though they're standing on the same board, the guy pulling the rope looks like if he was standing a bit higher.

Hope I wasn't too harsh and keep them coming!

Its fascinating to see the quality of your line work vary so much. Its a great sketchbook overall. You seem to be able to focus and delivery a really tight refined look at times and at others be so loose that you might suspect you are hardly trying and just want to get the shade of darkness in there fast, sacrificing the look of the piece. Maybe I think if its worth doing then its worth doing right. At least when it comes to shading and lighting Otherwise its great to see you improve and study. I really love the old page look in your first page. I have some of those lying around. I made with tea and regular sheets of paper/ But they dont have the color or texture yours does. How did you make them?
