    Critique my stuff... please :P

Hey everyone. HumbleHenk recomended me to join half a year ago but I was too much of a pussy, the skill of some people here intimidated me

Well anyways here are three of my pieces. None are super new cause my computer has been really slow lately and cant handle working with a high ressulotion. But ive got a new one ordered that Ill hopefully have in a week.
The good the bad and the ugly is from late december, the other two are a bit older than that.(August I think)

Stock photos used as reference for the two (mostly) anatomicaly correct pics.

Newer stuff to be posted soon.

Hey there. Glad to see you posting here!

I think that while your first pic doesn't really display much of what you can do (understandably so, considering is just chibis) I really love the way you did the other two. The hurt soldier, specially, is amazing. Great quality, man, I'd look forward seeing you post here more often.

Hey there, tried a master study. Since that seems to be a popular way to try to improve. Stopped after a while because I think the eyes and nose are a little off proportions, something I shall try to be more careful about.
Anyways, the reference was "Portrait of A Woman" by Robert Campin.

I'll start another one right away.

Another master study. This time of "Cain" by Anton Losenko.
I feel this one turned out abit better, maybe the heads a little too tall.
Also, forgot to say. But these are shown at the same size Im painting them. Anything much bigger would probably lag up this piece of shite :p

Based on a random photo found with google this time. All solid colors cause some of my stuff tend to be pretty fuzzy looking.

    Good start to your book.
Liking your charactures and nice tonal work but if your computer's so slow why not do some sketches from life. Working from photos is all well and good but a lot of the work is done for you.
Will check out your deviantart page at some stage too.

Filled out a meme on deviantart. As you might see I used to be a pixelartist. I even made graphics for a real game in 2003... No anatomy skills required

    Critique my stuff... please :P

I still remember when I was first doing pixel art years ago on dA back when we had different screen names. You were definitely a big influence on my old pixel work back then, I wish I had kept up with it though. My stuff was horrid D: http://brennengeist.deviantart.com/a...Pixels-9900206

It's awesome to see you getting more serious with your art as of late, have you done any in depth anatomy studies though? Check out the books by Andrew Loomis and George Bridgman if you haven't already.

http://alexhays.com/loomis/ <- Has all the Loomis books.

http://processjunkie.blogspot.com/20...ooks-ever.html <- Other great books here, though most of the loomis links are broken.

As far as critiques go, I've got none, your chunky colors actually look nice, they show you know how to break apart the light and differentiate the colors. I can't wait to see more from you buddy, spend some quality time with those books and you'll be kicking even more ass!

Once again, It's great to see you around these parts, and I hope to see you more often! By the way, we should do a pixel-off someday, a simple 100x100 frame with a set color limit. Could prove interesting since we haven't done much of that lately, though you'll definitely have the upper hand. Think about it!

    Adios!

Haha ofcourse you had to link to the worst you had ;P
Hearing things like this makes me both happy and sad. Sad because it reminds me of how people loved me when I did pixelart, but now that I draw stuff that is more than fancy shading techniques I'm just another artist

Ive read a little bit of Loomis' stuff but I havnt really studied his teachings. I think I will. And I'll check out the rest of those books aswell.

Sure you set the date for the duel and I'll be there
And I might have the upper hand in the pixel specific stuff, but you have it in everything else

I think you have something going on. I must say, that for now cartoon'ish and pixel art is you strongest skills, and i recommend you to not forget it, and just practice more and do some epic stuff.
And to think about realistic art... Best of all is start from anatomy (you don't need to know every bone, but after practicing anatomy drawing you'll get great results), do a lot of simple position drawings, gestures, emotions etc. Do a reference studies. And of course look at the other artist's - it helps!

    Wish you good luck!

    Thanks.

I just made some pixelart in photoshop... Photoshop sucks for pixelart, if I can prevent it, I will never do that again.
