These are cool. Lol the look on that alien's face in the first one makes me laugh! That is really great concept. Not to mention the nun--that's pretty hot

Matt you are a great artist, I even own one of your books. As usual your use of color is done so well. Is your "No Guts, No Glory" a recreation of "Eddie" from Iron Maiden?

Armoured nipples, I said goddam! Looks really slick, Matt, your stuff is consistently great. Davi recently called my textures "meaty" but I reckon you are the true king of meaty textures.

Funny, Witty, Brilliant, ONE Little thing annoys me, the sword in the picture with the armoured girl with the flag on the battlefield... why does it slowly turn towards me when its at an angle?

    Top-notch!
Just ordered a copy on your site.
Sometimes your work reminds me of the old Britisch heavy metal scene with a funny vibe. Like the girl with sword and flag. Eddie (from the Iron Maidens) meets Spinal Tap...
Or something like that... Ah well, forget it
Your subjects and digital painting style are always awesome.

    Thanks!
    Diederick

Your work is fantastic! I have your book "The Fantasy Artist's Bible", which worth every penny and helped me a lot with my own design projects. Hope to see more pieces and thanks for sharing!

I will buy this because of the title (which is genius) alone hehe...

... and because of the art anyway

Thanks for the support, boys and girls! This thing's been four years in the making, so I'm delighted to have received such a great response so far. Hopefully my stock will hold out long enough for me to pop up at some shows and conventions later in the year.

Artfix - Pretty hot. I see what you did there..! Cheers!

Graighter - Well spotted - you're clearly a true metalhead! That piece is indeed a tribute to 'The Trooper' by Derek Riggs. The artwork was commissioned for the cover CD with the current issue of Metal Hammer magazine - the mag also comes with an Iron Maiden sticker album and stickers so the guys at Hammer thought it would be fun to riff on some classic Maiden imagery. I tried to do something that would stand on it's own but be close enough to be recognised by anyone familiar with the original art, so I'm pleased you got it..!

Baron Impossible - You be the meat, I'll be potatoes. We just need to find a candidate for veg and together we'll have a deliciously wholesome meal. Thanks, Si.

Flapenko - I hadn't noticed that, but you're right. I have three possible explanations for you. 1) Clobbering that dragon in the background has not only robbed the poor girl of most of her armour, but has also twisted the blade of her favourite sword. 2) The covering of blood at the end of the sword obscures the rib ( central 'crease' along the blade ) which is flattening the form, making it look as if it twists. 3) I fucked up. You can choose whichever you like best. In my opinion, it's a combination of 2 and 3. Mostly 3.

ice red kid - Those are very flattering references. Thankyou! I hope you enjoy the book..!

Ralph - Cheers, Mr. H! Your book is on it's way.

Serge Birault - Thanks, Serge. Keep up the great work, you're really hitting them out of the park lately..!

Mr Man - No chasing required! The magic of the interweb means you can simply click on my site to have a signed copy delivered to your door! However, if you would like to marvel at my moustache in the flesh with the noble city of Brummijum as a suitably grand backdrop, I'll be at the Spring Memorabilia fair at the NEC at the end of March. ( Along with a reunion of the surviving Crossroads stars, plus Mark Lester and Ron Moody from Oliver!, amongst others. How could you resist?! )

Mandryk - Thanks, man. I posted your copy this morning..!

Chris Noeth - Haha! It was a toss up between 'Girls on Top!' and 'Bazookas!' - I think the right choice was made.
