What is the gaming industry salary In China?

I need your help. I got an email about a job offer in China. The recruiter wants me to know what is my "expectations in salary" will be. Frankly, I don't know. I want to say $10-$15 in U.S. dollars but this company is the leading gaming industry in the world right now, they are very big. So should I say what the going rate is for today in America?? like $69,000 U.S. dollars a year for concept artists?

I would greatly appreciate the help.

You can view my experience and portfolio at www.couplandrob.daportfolio.com if you prefer to know more details about my work and work history.

So you are saying your making roughly 70k here but would be willing to work for 20 to 30k there? Why? Take what you are making here and add 20% to it.

I presume you're talking about a permanent job and not freelance. So work out your expenses and desired margins and tell them how much you'd be comfortable earning. It's not a trick question

dpaint: Sorry for the confusion, I'm not working as a full time concept artist now, just freelance. I'm currently working at McDonalds.

contract only? are you going to move there? if you are moving you need to look up expat(sp?) stuff. There are rules for working overseas in china/

When working with outsourcing to china in the past their artist made about 1/2 the salary that we were making in the states. Granted cost of living can be considerable less in China as long as you arn't downtown in a major city.

But if you are living here and are being contracted out by a Chinese company charge them the full u.s rate cause that's where you need to make enough to live on.

    don't undersell yourself.

Zazerzs: It would be relocating to China. I told them about $10 U.S. would be my starting rate but that I'm also really negotiable as well. It's more than enough for me here in the U.S. to get by. Hopefully all goes well. Thanks
