    Lumella's Sketchbook

Hello, I'm Myr (a.k.a Lumella). I've been a member of CA for a long time, but I never really posted here. I didn't how to start, but after coming home from a seminar yesterday, I finally had the courage to try out to post in here to get some real progress coming~

    Please take care of me!

I also have a DA and a Sketch/Photoblog, but I'll try to post most of my stuffs in here to get something cooking~:
    Lum's DeviantArt
    Lum's Tumblr

To start off, I decided to make a realistic Miku Hatsune to try and adapt new styles rather than my usual anime art style.

EDIT (As of June 26, 2011):
I realized I have not expressed my primary goal, which is probably the reason why I felt this SB doesn't have a direction.

My GOAL is to become a CG and 3D Generalist with extensive knowledge in Matte Painting, and Conceptual Art.

I hope that would lead me into something more fruitful.

Very good start to your sketchbook, the anime style is very cool, I don't really see much wrong with it or anything you need to improve i that sketch. Keep up the good work!

eviltofu & Icedearth15876: Thanks~! I changed the neck, I'm not sure if it's recognizable though.
^soheeNgel>: Yeah, it sure did. I'll keep it up as much as I can. Thanks, Kuya Carlo (Eric told me, by the way. Sorry for the late introduction).

Fixed the neck part and added palettes for the image. I did another sketch awhile ago to practice how to draw devil wings.

    ^soheeNgel>: He told me your name. I forgot to ask for it on the seminar xD;;

It's been awhile since I posted here. I haven't been drawing much due to a very demanding minor subject I have. Trying to get the feeling again of drawing through head studies.

It's been awhile since I lasted posted. I've been practicing coloring lately. Decided to use a not-so-complicated lineart for now, but I'll make try to venture to harder slopes.

    Just finished this latest artwork.

I really like this piece Lumella, did you use bezier curcers for the lines, or do you do it with brushes? It looks so neat

I've been experimenting with poses lately. Perhaps to get the hang of drawing different poses in different angles for one of my artworks I'd like to draw soon.

UPDATED: Added my 3D rendering done on Maya. Did this in my 3D class. Tried to make a drinking session scene, but forgot to add chairs. Oh well~ Just used occlusion because I haven't tried using materials on objects yet

@ Kuya Carlo: Thank you! I'm still trying to get the hang of it since it's been a long time since I cged.

    Update:
Okay, so I added more details on my last work.
    I haven't done much change on the hair since all the pink shades are making me teeny-bit crazy oAo;;
And I'm still trying to get the hang of coloring hair strands since I'm not used to doing that before.

    Update:
I've added depth on her hair, though it's still lacking a bit.
Added recent sketches as well. Been trying to shift style into something more fitting to my taste.

@ Kuya Carlo: Thank you c: Yes, it'd be nice if other artists would take a look and give some helpful comments about my stuffs.

    Update
So, the weather in my country had been too rainy. Actually got stranded in my school for ridiculous hours because the streets were getting flooded. Alas, I decided to draw more to pass the time, aside from playing Persona 3 Portable all day long.

Here are some light sketches practicing on posing, drawing monsters and a little of study.

Hello Gear! Thank you! And yes, I agree with you. I started with anime so it's kinda hard to break the habit at times. I've been meaning to attain more influence from game art nowadays. And if not, more into realism hopefully.

    Update
Here's an unfinished speedpainting I did today. I feeling a bit too tired because of the weather so yeah. Here's a preview for tonight. Done between 3-5 hours.

    I don't think it's called a speedpainting anymore. /facepalm

I finished my speedpainting from yesterday. I'm not entirely sure if I did correct but here it is. I still have to work on matching the values of the colors from the references.

oh that is nice. I don't know if that was how your reference photo looked but the shadow between the lips and in the nostrils is usually quite dark (more than in your pic) because very little light can reach there.

krysjez: Oh thank you for pointing that out! I'm still having difficulty when it comes to values, though I'm pretty sure that's how it looks like (I think xD;. As for the reference, it's this one. Feel free to point out, if so.

    Update
Tried to make a composition, but I think it's too plain. Looks like I have to review the principles of design, just in case. Oh! And also, I made some few roughs based from ballerinas. They have such lovely forms ♥

Made rough sketches for a character design for my monster character. Will finalize it for my midterms next week in my 3D class, and most likely be rigged in a couple of weeks too. For now, roughs first.

    Update
Have been out in a long hiatus. I haven't drawn or painted much due to commitments with all sorts of stuffs. For now, here's my original design of a modern church I did recently. I've been doing 3D more recently, which I find really amusing.

    Done on Maya.
