Thread: Mendics' Sketchpad
January 26th, 2010 #1
I recently got inspired by how much people improve here, seeing that improvement, made me realize i had to work on a lot more than i usually have.. i have been progressing a lot slower these past years and i believe that i have to put on a lot more effort if i ever want to draw the stuff i always admired. So as starters i made this sketchpad.
I'm mendics (that of course is a forum name), I live in the Philippines and I've been drawing since i was in prep, I'm currently an architect student here, 19 yrs old. i draw a lot of anime in my years, so my style might show up even if i dont it to. I dont really regret doing anime as it "IS" what motivated me when i was a kid. I've also realized that drawing anime alone wont make me improve so i plan to draw a lot more from life and from different styles.
anyways here's my first work to post here.. A wip at the moment.. Copied it at a photo.. trying to practice real life art..

here's one i made just right now.. a master work from some artist... (dunno ehehe)
compared to the original, man theres a lot of difference but as they say it not in the copying, its in the learning you get from it. Its a WIP by the way... ahaha
hmmm... maybe im doing it all wrong.. the process i mean.. i draw the sketch of it then block in colors in one part then finalize the render .. then block some more parts, render it then move on to another.. maybe i should sketch, block all colors, then finalize the render.. not piece by piece..
you guys might have seen this already but i might as well post it here..

new updates... kinda been not practicing lately, but at least i do better practice now than before.. ehehe
did a master study here... eww... I still cant grasp the facial features of realism.. and kinda scared to do the shades on the flesh.
-did a little bit of pose mania and anatomy study a while ago.. 5-10 mins a piece.. i wasn't really hurrying to finish the drawing, i was studying where and how the muscles were connected.
-part 2 of studies.
-tried to apply the anatomy studies.. on lucy. still not used to drawing female breasts.. err
-a wip i'm playing around with.. no body for now ehehe
-tried to do my past anime art style, with a touch of my painting style. still not getting what i want from anime art.
