Hi Mason, try it again, And agian and again. Do anatomy studies, and avoid "hairy" lines. Good start, keep it up!

Hi Mason, I'm a bit of a lurker round these forums but I thought I'd share some feedback about your sketchbook.
You do need to do much more figure studies as mentioned above, but remember, when studying from life or photography: you must look at the subject much more than your sketch.
You should kind of sketch blind, so to speak. Keep your eye on the photo and only look down every so often to make sure your pencil is in the right place, its common place to forget this and get lost in your drawing but practice makes perfect.
Also, I know someone mentioned avoiding hairy lines, and this may seem the opposite to you, but avoid smudged ones too. Do not smudge. Use the pressure you put on the paper to stress a blend, press hard and gradually loosen to achieve shade, don't draw a block and smudge it outwards. Perhaps you could practice shading techniques and anatomy separately. Shade an apple or a basic sphere and draw the lines of a woman.
Anyway I'm babbling. Remember when drawing from reference, 'look' at the reference and 'check' your drawing, not the other way round. Hope this helps!kristianduffy.blogspot.com
