Seth1: I like what you've done here, particularly the one on the right, with the exception of the hand, it looks a bit awkward. The right hand image without the hand would look very strong, reminiscient of the Scarface movie poster.

Manupkp: Cool stuff. The colour scheme is good, although the highlights look a touch too white in places, this is a good solid effort. You should try colouring i the whole piece because you've made a good here! I especially like the eyes.

Heya it's been a while since I posted anything. I have been busy and not in the mood for any painting or drawing, but this week has been productive. Unfortunatly the line art I have chosen is from people's sketchbooks and not from this thread so I guess I'm not really allowed to post it here.

Except one of the people's sketches I've borrowed to colour can be found here, so why not ask for permission?
Evildisco: I have mostly been practicing skin tones and there is quite a lot of females in your sketchbook so maybe I could get permission to post 3 of your sketches I've coloured?

OMG! INVISIBLE TEXT! ... and a future sketchbook will maybe be linked soon.

DormantWalker: You could benefit from more variation of the colors in value particularly. Keep it up though, you're on the right track.

Dile: Don't work on white Bg, it's really hard to do. Also I suggest you look at Dischord, he has the right idea for skin tones. As for the suit, it's pretty good effort, try and use less grays and opt for desaturated colors. Also watch out for weird color combos.

Dischord, the skin tones are coming along nicely.
You could benefit from slight blending though, not much because it will flatten and lose interest.

    Thanks Idiot apathy and evildisco!

I should be sleeping...but I had to colour these lines

I am feeling a bit uncertain about reflections and shadows and what colours would look realistic. I feel like I've got the technique to colour lines, but I need to get further and start painting over the lines.
Any crits that would help me to improve the colouring would be greatly appreciated. Even the smallest little thing. THanks

Well mate, the colors that would look good for reflections I think are realistic - that's not to say they should all look "normal" i.e. bengal's sort of violet world

Color is all dependant on the light that is in the specific spot you're focused upon - crummy wording. I.e. Think perhaps a white ball on green grass - your going to see green coming from the grass, blue from the sky, and of course the sun's light. Maybe even more!

There is a lot of this kind of stuff in the Peer Project, feel free to join in - I'll do my best to crit. Link is in my signature.

    Peace dude.

Bengals violet world is wonderful. Maybe the next lineart I'll do for this will be attempted to be coloured his way.

I tried the peer project thingy, but didn't really manage to get through the first colour/greyscale sphere thingy well. Maybe I'll give it another try some time soon.... I blame the Photoshop colour "wheel" for the failure.

My first post and I hope it's a good one

    Hello Everyone,

This is my first post hehe, I was giddy when I saw this thread, I do alot of pieces like these but I am mediocre at best when it comes to color (working on fixing this, taking donations for a waccum tablet o.O). So please give my kitty some color, and have fun, I hope you all enjoy. If not I suppose I wont be allowed to post anymore huh?

Oh yes I've been reading alot of rules to these forums, so if I have already broken any of them please tell me now, thank you.

    Happy coloring!

Just a small pic today from a sketch from my "lineart/evildisco/" folder

For once I actually tried to paint over the original lines and it looks pretty okay I think, but there is probably something wrong (apart from the hair of course).

Some commenting (since I have the time to do it )
H82Love: Welcome to this thread! I don't think you have broken any rules so far. Just post own sketches, colour others' lineart posted in the thread and if you want to colour something that has not been posted here you should ask the person for permission first.
That pic is looking really good, but (no offense) I can't really see what is what, and that would make it quite difficult to colour. Besides, I mostly just colour females heh
Hurry up to get a wacom, they are worth the money. Even the really cheap light weight Wacom Volito tablet works (only one I can afford).

mull77: I like the simplicity in that picture and I'm not sure if it would actually look better with colour.

dischord: You didn't colour your next piece the bengal style you lia....erm... I seem to be talking to myself.

Idiot Apathy: Oh yeah, peer project. Maybe tomorrow. It's 1 am here now.
    btw. Post something here!

    Here's my attempt at coloring an evildisco piece. I tried a lot of new things with this-- bolder colors, more contrast and a new way of blending. Ordinarily I get frustrated with CGing things after a while, but I actually had a lot of fun working on this. I suppose the fact that I was working with GOOD linework as opposed to the crap I usually draw had a lot to do with it too. ^^;;

Considering that I CG things once in a blue moon, I think I'm actually improving. *is shocked*

    Hello,
This is my first post... ever... And I know this isn't a very good job, but that's why I'm here. I want to learn! I meant to go a little further with the shading, and add some highlights, but I'm devoting time to something else instead! I did this in Photoshop CS2.
