Another ex of mine. I must get around to finding a new one now that I think about it! I've enlarged this from the actual pic, because I only drew a small sketch, if it was actual size, I don't think it would be of use to anyone!

glikster: I love the pattern you've given the frogs skin. The background works nicely too!

Foolanaki: That is one crazy colour scheme buddy! (It looks like you may have licked one of those hallucinagenic frogs when you started colouring! )

Thanks Dave, real good color practice and a really nice change of pace from the unique frustration that is human skin tone.
    Keep up the good work!

An hour or so, man I love Painter 9. So worth it.

To give everyone some variation: The Amazing Skull-Kid!

Idiot Apathy: That is gorgeous. I love it.

DarkMana: Nice work on both pieces there. The one you did on sunny's lines really catches the atmosphere , I like the highlights on his face.

Wow, I think my jaw's just unhinged itself again; there's so much talent here that I can't help but itch to color... well, a LOT of these! TwT To say the least, this thread is why I registed for Conceptart.org...

And as I'm a coloring , I just got busy.

I didn't notice anyone coloring discordant's octo, so decided to bring it to life. Hurr. But the shading is off and the water doesn't quite look like water. Hope I did your lines justice, Discordant! ^^

Darkmana: Not bad. Have you considered giving your images a bit more contrast? It would give them more impact.

Frank the Ninja: Nice one. With a few more highlights that could be kickass.

Foolanaki: Weird, we went for the exact same colour scheme. Great minds... I like the broken heart btw.

Syris: Damn right! I'm power hungry!

Sunny: Like it mate. Only thing I'd add is a bit of white to the flame to make it look hotter, other than that though, very good job!

Pnyx: Excellent. I love how you've made some very subtle indications of the clothing textures. Well done!

lance: Whoa! He certainly stands out from the rest of the undead!

kheleksul: Welcome to CA. This is the best thread here by far! I don't think it matters that your water doesn't look too 'watery' (made up a word!) it's really well painted. Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff.

More lines from me soon (probably today). I've only been away for a few days because I've had to rebuild my PC and do some barwork *shudder* to keep aying the bills. I need a full time illustration job goddammit!

Here's one from Sunync back in April on page 28, I must have been having lots of fun because I spent probaby a bit over 2 hours on it... still didn't "finish" but learned a lot.

I made a few changes in the original line art... hope you don't mind!
Let me know what you think people ! Keep up the good work.

You like how I covered up the unfinished parts in a hurry? Har !

Ha! But maybe I shouldn't trust that... as you're bound to be biased, 'o King of the Coloring Book lineart.

Oi, more lines make us happy. Or, at least, make me happy. Thanks for the compliments, though - they mean a lot to me.

Idiot Apathy: I like your coloring; you've got potential, and I can't wait to see what you do with it. To be quite honest, though, I don't quite like the messiness of the coloring. It doesn't fit the lineart as well as smoother coloring would. And the white mist around her (knees and right arm) look ... tacky and accidental. In anycase, you've got a nice eye for shadow-placement. ^^

    First off thanks

I see what you mean with the coloring, I think I spend so much time trying to understand how color and light should work that it leaves little time (more like patience and stamina) for overall design and finality.

Your absolutely right about the white mist, it was accidental hehe. But I still like it more than seeing the naked lineart that I didn't paint on top of.

Oh, and some good advice that I've already begun pondering, thanks again!

Thought I'd post the rough pencils I've done for this. I'm not sure the methods that everybody paints digitally, some of you may prefer to work on less finished lines than I normally provide here. In case you do, here you go.

The normal inked lines will be up when I finish them!

Nice, I certainly wouldn't mind more of your pencil work.

Spent about an hour on this one... something still bugs me and its really messy even for me, but I like the result. Maybe I should have softened the pencil edges more?

    Some Quick Lines:

If anyone wants the original size (5x the size), or even original file (lines on their own layer, mostly) send out a PM.

I'd recommend at least a layer underneath and a layer on top to cover the line shading... but I'm sure you've all got your own processes . Feel free to add or subtract whatever you want.

To see where I took it from here 20 minutes later:
    Click !
And then 20 minutes after that:
    Click !

Decided to color it, didn't expect to take it this far but I was having too much fun and learning a great deal. Tried a colorize layer on top of the previous grayscale sketches, a new technique for me but it taught me a lot.

    Another 30 Min.
