I like the mood of the first Hallelujah Mountains painting. Did you use reference for it?

I posted some notes here on flickr about some issues I was grappling with in the painting:

nice oils and that intensive program sounds really interesting! I might have to see if I can one day get my self involved in something like that. I see you are selling paintings on ebay, would you mind if I asked, have you sold many on there? I'm thinking of doing something similar but don't know if its a decent place to sell art?

ThomasM - I can't recommend Studio Escalier highly enough. As for ebay--just a few, but I haven't been trying to sell them on ebay as aggressively as I am on etsy, where I've had more success. In either case I think it is important to post new paintings for sale often and regularly. Speaking of which, I have just moved all of these recent painting back to Etsy for fixed prices I'm going to be at my first arts and crafts fair in a couple weeks, which I hope will fare better!

Here is my current set up in the kitchen. Making some good breakthroughs in color on this current painting so I guess I'll be here for quite a while until it's done!

thanks for the advice, and I really like those highlights on the onion. I'll have to check out etsy, I'd never heard of it before, hopefully it has a UK section :p

I'm pretty sure the entire world can buy and sell through the same etsy site.

    Really nice still lifes!
But don't sell them that expensive. Cut the price by half at least. They're studies after all, I don't think they should be treated like masterpieces. I think the buyers think the same, that's why it's better to do that.. if you want anything sold

Just a small update--framed a portrait sketch from last summer:

I'll be making a new series of paintings soon. Getting all the panels ready

Great sketchbook and very interesting insight on your approach. Really helpful stuff. Your traditional media skills are through the roof. Keep it up.
