Thread: Greyskill's Sketchbook!
June 16th, 2013 #222
I also struggle with environments, hence why I rarely do them, but one thing I have found is that it helps to have clean hard lines, if you notice the above enviro, everything is soft.
I noticed some of your quick head drawings are great with colour but they are lacking in the proper application of light and shadow. I'd do a paintover on one of them for you to illustrate what I mean but I'm not sure if I should.
I do like your use of colour in your characters though.

I would be really happy for you to do a paintover if you would be willing!
I do have a hard time working with tones and keeping good tonal ranges.
Thanks for the words, and thanks for stopping by!
SOoo, this isn't necessarily done. I am still looking at it and mulling it over.
Figured I would post anyhow..

Just bee you self man, I really like the rough stuff, the clean stuff has it's
value too. I hope you'll POP in sometimes, you improved sooo much.
I really like the landscapes, and the birds eye view.

I intend to be myself. I don't have much experience being anyone else. =]
New stuff, yeah yeah... I really could use a job, or some more work... Whatevs...
This first one is a logo that I did for a newly opened jewelry shop on Facebook.
Fifi's Fineries. Here is a link, not sure if it will work without logging into facebook though,
The rest of these are concepts for the not yet released "BARBARIANS!" miniature line by Two Raven Games.

Thanks much! =] I can't believe that they got rid of the "thank" button. what is up with that?
Here is a painting I just finished, as well as some shots of a zbrush model I finished just a bit ago.
Posting it here to keep this thread just barely breathing...
I have really gotten sick of how dead this site is...
The weekly challenges are barely limping, there isn't as much good interaction.
That is not to say that I haven't gotten some great feedback,
but I feel like the people who post are really starting to be a small holdout of the past armies of amazing artist that used to grace these halls.

love the outfit of the girl in #229! pretty cool stuff, the whole painting as well!
and yeh, this site isnt much alive anymore, its really to bad, and i dont know where to go for feedback if not here D: having a blog or tumblr isnt the same thing as a nice community/forum :/
also, very cool zbrush model!

awesome characters! and that 3D model is pretty impressive I really like the snow white piece! Awesome composition and dwarf faces And I should probably not try to give you any advice, since I´m barely capable of drawing a straight line, but I feel like you could make the snow white piece even cooler than it already is by adding some depth and some color (I know she´s supposed to be ´snow white´ but her skin is going to catch at least some color from surrounding elements).. I´m terribly sorry if I ruined the piece, You are free to totally ignore this

Thanks, that outfit was fun to design! I was trying to think what a witch would give her stepdaughter to wear, and that is what I cooked up.
I guess I should stop complaining about the place being dead, and either post more myself or go somewhere else.
-stinkypanda Heyya Panda, thanks for dropping by. Glad you like my stuff! =]
Here is the CHOW I am working on. The prompt is Babysitter from Hell.
I included the wip pictures because, why not....

-stinkypanda Hey again, I missed that you did the paintover somehow. Thanks for that, I like hearing critiques and opinions.
I did think about that but then it occurred to me that since the fire was behind her, there really wouldn't be any warm light on her face.
I probably could have darkened her like you did, but I was playing with the idea that the gem on her chest was a lightsource, I don't think that I pulled that off well though..
Thanks again for the critique and all. I really really appreciate it!
Here is a character named Violet Tuesday and some sketches I did in ink.

-NeonPoweredFirefly Thanks much! I would love to do more in that style. You will probably see something soon.
Not today though... =/
-stinkypanda Hah, thanks! I did the color on those in colored acrylic ink.
Oh and I just wanted you to see this, http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=273093
They said basically exactly what you did when I posted this in the Critique section! XD
Good eye! =]
Soooo, here is a portrait I did for a woman of her son, at three different ages.
And here is a test of semi-realistic portrait painting from imagination. It doesn't really look right even though I kept working on it...
