HGCALLARD - Gotta add some highlights, not only because of the strong light source, but also for the sake of the composition -those shapes are getting lost in the darkness! Seems to me some rimlighting would go a long way.

Here's my current WIP. C&C is very welcome.

I honestly don't know why I keep setting light sources BEHIND the creature when I want to display it...

EDIT. The background is on fire because the raptor is walking away from a meteor impact site. I'm trying to make it look burned. I haven't ever tried it so we shall see how it turns out.

Man, I wish I'd seen this earlier!! If I weren't trying hard to finish the EOW this week I'd jump in here at this late point. Good luck to you all though, you all rock! Finals gonna be a killer.

Goldenserpent : I like the thumbnail on the right personally, it just seems like it would read as more decayed looking to me. Great one btw.

    hgcallard : Great concept!

hodoca : I really like the triceratops sketch, would work well.

Orm Irian : I decided to go with the other, I think my anatomy was just better on it, thanks tho! Yours is looking good, some parts are a bit hard to distinguish against the background would be my only crit.

skullbeast : very interesting design, looking good.

Here is a little update on mine. Starting to shade and highlight.

GoldenSerpent: Oooh! I really love this! The details look amazing. He looks much more balanced now too, glad I could help. (:
As for colour, I really like the one with the blue tinge to it, but the blood stands out more on the grey one. . . Hmm. Maybe you could get an inbetween of the two? Something slightly blue but not too bright that the blood doesn't stand out. I also think some stringy blood-drips would look awesome too. XD

Orm Irian: Really neat concept! It feels so cold and desolate, it goes very well with the 'zombi' theme. The background is great too! The only thing I might be able to point out is that in some spots the edges are a little indistinct. Like, it's difficult to see where one thing ends and the other starts. Maybe defining the edges of your dino's feet where they sink into the snow and cleaning up the edges of your icicles and such would help bring this image to life a little more.
Oh, and this is just an idea, but I think if you added a bit of splattered blood around your dinosaur it will make it look more spooky and morbid.

Well, I wasn't planning on drawing anything for this myself, but I couldn't pass it up.
This is mainly just an idea I had sketched up, but I liked it too much that I had to add some shading/colour to it. this is my first time trying out this painting style, I don't think I've ever drawn a dinosaur before either. xD

Thx for the tips, after a night of sleep and a day at work, I decided to fix the anatomy so that it fits the topic a bit more. Still could not pull myself from designing something that walks on all fours. so this one has bits taken from the Ankylosaurus, Hadrosaurus and perhaps a tad bit of T-Rex, just for spice.

Previous, way too horselike sketch (though I still like it)

    Great zombies everybody.

    Arbinn
Looking great. Nice moment in the raptor and dramatic scene.
I do not really understand what you were saying about putting the light source behind the object. Can´t you ad another lighthouse in front of the object as the main light. Having the back-light cast light on the edge.
