    Thank you for the compliments, everyone. At last getting to the final of the Dune piece I've been working on forever. Final drawing, 30x40in. Ebony pencil on Strathmore Cold-Press Heavyweight Illustration Board, to be painted over with acrylic. Of course, I ran out of workable fixative!

    The rather busy hodge-podge of lines behind the old Reverend Mother will not be in the completed painting--these are guides for the lights and darks of leaf clusters that will be done with brush strokes.

    Imprimatura and laying in the darks. The camera flash was disabled, so it is a bit low res.

    Great stuff! That painting is looking great so far, it reminds me of Josh Kirby's style a bit, but with more grace to the characters forms. I love Lady Jessica's face - really unique and it fits with her character. (I never thought the bald Bene Gesserit in the David Lynch adaptation made any sense).

    The Ringworld sketches are delightful too. I discovered the series a few months ago and was really hooked on the Ringworld books for a bit.

    @Naidy: Thank you very much!

    @Benjy: Thank you for your compliments---the comment about Jessica's face fitting her character really meant a lot to me.
    It has been so long since I worked on the Ringworld sketches---Loius Wu and Speaker cooperated nicely but Nessus was quite difficult!

    A bit more underpainting progress. Although I have used Raw Umber and White for the majority of the underpainting, for underpainting Jessica's skin I decided to try the "Verdaccio" technique. Since the Reverend Mother is to have a deathly pale greenish-yellow pallor, I used a magenta-tinted grey...Magentaccio?

    Thank you for the compliments, wasabi89 and Sycra!

    A sketch of a Kzin profile from Larry Niven's Ringworld and Known Space series. I wasn't expecting that much from the sketch when I started it or I'd have left more room for the ears.

    Looking good Williams. You have a lovely old illustration feel to your work. Be careful of the skin tones on the women of your current piece. She could use more warmth in her face to help set her apart from the old woman. Otherwise it is a great piece and coming along well.

    @Ninjac: Yes, the ultimate plan is for the younger woman to have healthier skin tones while the old crone has a deathly yellowish corpse pallor. At the moment, they have not much more than an initial wash-in and/or underpainting layer. But the advice and compliments are much appreciated!
