really admiring your mastery of lighting sir.
Yo mate!!! You are doing really great. Love the illustration in 962#. Something about the perspective in that last one doesnt read very well in my eyes. If the character is in the foreground make sure to enchance that by reducing the contrast in the background elements [maybe by a thin pass of a blueish color], if he exist as a giant structure in the background, then lower the contrast both for him and the background and bring up some foreground elements.
Keep up the great work
Kicking ass and taking names, outstanding work man. It's nice to see your not dead. Oh and thanks for stoping by my SB ^_^
Loving that dragon btw, the fire's glow looks fantastic, though I think it could use a few more spots of cool color to accentuate the contrast a bit more. it looks kinda out of place with only the dragon's head being hit by the blue light, maybe some on the rocks in the bg too could fix it up. XD look at me nit picking you when you kick the crud out of my stuff easy lol, but like I said its nice to hear from yah man
kingkostas hey man ! whats up ! Military duty over yet ? how are you doing , dropped by your blog yesterday, that troll alike character is great man ! thanks for the hints hopefully this pass will deal with the propblems you mentioned ^^ thanks for dropping by !
Medusoid Dont hide your light under a bushel man ! you have every right to nit pick/point out as much as you want, your stuff is totally solid and I could never do such anime style stuff + input is appreciated and you are totally right about the dragons lighting ...I allready approached that exact problem but it didnt turn out as intended still trying to fix that ^^ thanks for dropping by mate !
almost finished ^^ but still some things to do ( namely some background stuff some tweeks to some perspective issues and the doublet )
i'm following your sketchbook for a while now and it's really a lot of cool stuff. i love the subtle lighting together with that hard light in the background in your current piece....great mood!
i have already some of your paintings in my inspiration folder...if you keep on like this i might have to dedicate a whole folder just for your paintings
and i agree with King
love the shieldand the tone of the image.
maybe if his legg is straighter..
wasn't i just in here?! i forgot how damn fast you are! this latest one is looking awesome man! lighting is awesome! love the light pouring over the high wall. very epic. keep. pushing. this. beast. ! ! !
NickyBeats haha thanks man been away for 5 days helped my fiancée to move from Berlin to Hamburg and yeah trying my best to push it further ^^
so here we go both not 100% finished yet + awaiting your critique, first one the tabard ist still VERY MUCH WIP, second one just obtained some minor tweeks at the hips and some adjustments as his head was a tad bit too small (was about 8 heads high instead of 7,5 )
anyways enjoy ^^

Those are looking fucking tight dude.
Hey man I think You've really improved since my last visit! Azorius dude is awesome, love colours and overall feeling of this painting; i see it's wip so You'll polish it more but thing that bothers me are legs - right one is in quite awkward pose and left one is placed a bit too much in front - You should ask someone trustworthy for redline. Recent sketch is great too. You really surprised and inspired me dude, never stop!
hu-ha thanks man ^^ and tried to implement your hint in that WIP
almost finished now and some filter madness for the fun of it (inspired by Velocity Kendalls stuff, doing this kind of stuff for the first time so really I have to figure out how it works, dont rip my head of Vel )
friggin love the defender! really well painted!
not claiming that i can do it better or anything, just a few things i think could help it thought, value and color wise.
i separated more things by value, increasing contrast for an easier read, and darkened down the forground water for the composition and focus´ sake.
now the area of most contrast is the face of the Defender. but it depends on where you want it ofcourse.
as well as moving the building behind the top of the staff, there was a tangent created with the lines there.
also, i´m on a laptop screen right now, so feel free to completely ignore everything if you feel like it doesn´t make sense
increased the warmth and coolness of the colors a bit as well with overlay.
hope you don´t mind, but let me know if you want me to remove the link or something, because some people dislike PO´s
here´s the psd of the paintover, hope it helps:
Flakspost no its totally cool ^^ thats what the sketchbooks section is for in my opinion ^^ Ill have a look into what you said ...but maybe this pic needs soem explanation from my side ( not saying that my opinion in this case is right ) You see first of all I like to have that subtle lighting situation as you have to imagine that he is surrounded by tall white buildings and water and the sun is low ...which leads to a scene that is mainly lit by bounce light and the sky. I wanted that exact subtle lighting ( not perfectly achieved by any means though ^^ )
and the second thing is I am still learning so I have to make small baby steps I am not yet at a point where I can just brush in whichever colours and make it work from the beginning thats why I have to work my way into a painting by carfully layering in the depth ^^ which often leads to rather low contrasts ^^
then again THANKS for your input Ill see what I can take from it!
cool sketchbook. I don't really have a critique of anything, just saying that I enjoyed looking through it and seeing the progress! I really liked the mech design 'cause of the perspective and the design. keep it up man, gogogogoogogogogogoggg!
sexy lighting as always!
Velocity Kendall thank you my dear sir *bows down* ^^
kevin_ progress ? thats nice to hear, I hope so ^^
last update for now , going to bed , managed to fuck up my PSD as I saved it downsized and started painting again ...now everything is a little blurry but one cant see it in these WIP shots ....still annoying.
