the lighting here is beautiful man

EDIT: DUDE!!! this looks exactly like a scene at the end of Howl's Moving Castle! The castle breaks and all thats left is this door that leads to a bunch of places, and the door ends up at the base of a mountain. So funny... for me I guess, idk if you've even heard of it

sweet man! this guy looks cool. dont be afraid to get looser with your brush strokes at the early stages of your paintings. like when your working out the colors and stuff. it can add some energy to your pieces, and remove some of the stiffness that comes from over rendering early on.

everybody just go and support Lin Ran... why? you may ask ...simply because he is an awesome artist and some ( close as I can figure it ) false accusations drove him away from CA

why do i have a strong feeling this is going to be epic?

looks amazing man, very atmospheric, you often times use almost entirely monochromatic palettes in your work, while this does make it seem more realistic it also makes it less engaging. Why not use like a neon blue some where here or some flicker of a high contrast color? I know your allot more knowledgeable about most of this stuff than me but this is just my opinion so take it as you will, remember... repetition is a very effective way to get better but it's also really dangerous if used in excess(I should know considering how "safe" all my work is)

keep up the awesome work man

^^ hm in this case this might actually be my very first stile decision ever ...i think most of my work ( meaning future work) will be very monochromatic with little opposing colours I just like the look of this, ATM I am focusing on colours and I try to get to a more realistic look ( not hyper-realistic but less comic alike as most of my former works )

but their will be some other colours in this piece as well its only the first raw sketch and as you can see in this prince piece of mine from time to time I change the colours entirely in the end ^^

and another important factor might be that you see my entire progress more or less live, whereas other artist start to show their work when they reached a certain high level, so you dont see the hundreds of training pics ...that might be why this looks repetitive ...I simply have hundreds of training pieces ahead ^^ and all you see here is training as well and this will stay this way for quite a while, as I think I will learn much more if I stick to a certain problem before progressing/switching to others ^^

and sometimes if your actual focus is " getting better " there is absolutely nothing bad about doing a thing a lot ^^ you yourself did become much better by doing so ! And there is much time to do other things the day we rock concerning all the technical things ^^

this just my opinion did not intend to offend you !

You always have such great characters, there is so much life in the details. I love looking at them and trying to dig out as many different background stories for them as I can. thanks for letting us see some of your process with them to.
