The majority of last night was about direction and where we were heading with our pieces. Just started doing some idea tossing, and spurring on the whole 'lets get this done' mindset

Not a terribly big deal that you missed it, but we'll try to redo another one sometime soon.

just looked at Matte_arts sketches. tossed some thumbs his way. Basically its was just live critique. If you guys want we can also meet up again tonight at 11:50pm again.
We can discuss eachs work and get feedback.

oh and i reworked my thumbs a bit....
    TeamChow III: Clan Serpintine
star is depicted as an elf. shes kind of a white witch in this picture. kept thinking galadriel which was fitting i think ;p. will have more jewelery and debating if the stars will be jewelery, background elements or tattoos.
    TeamChow III: Clan Serpintine
cups is a celebration card...coming together, etc. thought it would be cool to use an elf, human and dwarf to show this. the card originally used the three graces. think i need a better composition tho.

anyhow, will be online tonight again at 11:50pm (est) if you guys wanna meet up...if not we should probably set another date.

I have selected the 2 of wands and the sun as my cards, just waiting on mod approval.
Also I just set up a trillian account so hopefully you can message me through that.

Here are a few sketches from my sketch book at work. mostly just doodles to convey idea, as well as working on potential compositions for the cards. The first two pages are ideas for the Justice card and for the 7 of cups. The third card has some initial sketches of the 7 of cups as well as potential poses. The last two are mock ups of how the 7 of cups could look. I'll try to post better quality pic later on, but I wanted you guys to see some of the directions I am exploring.

@Geist- I really like your idea of having the women (justice) holding the scales with each hand....makes you feel like she is more a part of justice then just one who sees...she is a part of the process...if that makes any sense Also makes you think they could be weapons themselves, along side the sword of course ;p.

also...before you said you were doing the 7 of wands...did you switch to cups?
    Love the thumbs though...very expressive.

Great meet-up last night guys!! Alot of good ideas were tossed around and looking forward to seeing the sketches.

Also @ Wilkerson - As it is the half way mark of the team chow, we are all going to update daily with progress sketches. We all want to try to have the ideas sketched out by this Sunday so we have all next week to do the finals.
Also, we need your aol account info for trillian.
Please let us know asap...the meet-up we had yesterday was extremely helpful and am looking forward to a few more as well.

    @ everyone:
As for another meet up, we can try to meet up possibly this coming
Wednesday @ 8pm or 9pm (Eastern Standard Time) and Sunday @ 1pm (Eastern Standard Time) !! This way we can revise our ideas a bit more and have final sketches to show for Wednesday.

    Sound ok Guys?

Last edited by nefgoddess; January 18th, 2010 at 04:21 PM. Reason: Changed meeting time to wednesday...more time to sketch :)

That sounds great, but I would urge many of us to have our final sketches completed by monday if possible (wednesday being the tenative final date). And then have everything completed by Friday to give Saturday and Sunday for final corrections, presentation, etc.

Better to be done early I say than late.

Here are 3 of the maybe 5 final looks that I am thinking about for Justice card. I will have the other two tommorrow as well as a few of for the 7 of wands. Keep in mind that these are still rough and even what is shown here is still very much in progress. If you have any suggestions fire away please. We gotta stick together go team!

Oh wow, you took those ideas to the extreme for sure, very awesome!

My vote for the moment is to REALLY push the last piece. I really like that idea the most.

Basically seems to give off that air of "Yeah, I'm awesome, what of it?!" :3

#1 has interesting dynamic posing, but I don't see it being expressive enough.

The one thing I would say to implement on #3, would be to make the sword more unique. There has to be something you can do with it, perhaps take a modified version from picture number 2?

    Just my 2cents.

Hey guys. Just a small update as I'm not at home at the moment. Going to post a bunch o sketches in the morning before work and some more after work before the meeting at 8 or 9pm. Let's say 9pm EST ...more time for people to get stuff done before the meet-up.

Will comment on your stuff tomorrow when I see your sketches on a screen larger then 2 x 3 inches :p!

    Happy sketching

Let me know whatchat think, took your advice Nef and found some anatomy ref

Might try doing it as a full illy (is that what we're supposed to do anyway?).

Anyway, meeting in just a minute

quick colour roughs...the acrylics didnt scan well ><!
the patch of colour on the right is chowing the contrast between skin and possible markings. Had an idea of the markings to be based off victorian embelishments. we'll see if it works!

looking good...but dont forget the dark fantasy theme we have going with the cards...that is with a hint of Victorian thrown in....mainly dark fantasy though.

I will remember that at 1 pm est on Sunday we have the meeting. I will bring my sketches as well. Matte I am looking forward to see where you go with that wands sketch, also great start on pentacles, I do believe you are the first to adopt color! Nef I like the sketches, and thanks for the reminder about the vicotrian theme/dark fantasy. I will be sure to add that to my cards. Hopefully tonight or tommorrow I will post some more sketches.

Ok, here are the sketches for what I am thinking about for the 7 of wands. Boy was it tough to get a feel for this card. These are choices I am thinking about. So far my favorites are:
    sketch 1,
    Sketch4,
    Sketch 5, and
    sketch 7.
I think of those choices, 7 is the one I am leaning to the most. let me know what you guys think, also if you can't understand what I drew cause my sketch is unreadable, let me know. Crits, comments, general banter are all welcome. See you guys on Sunday. Or was it Saturday.

Good job Matte, the only thing I would say is to make the poses a little more dynamic. as it stands now they all seem a little to static. other then that I can't wait to see what you go with.
