Arthur Streeton study. Im doing these studies to figure out what brushes works best for foilage etc.
Love the last two!
Awsome stuff man! Im a huge fan of your work
great stuff man! my only crit right now is that some of your colors are too muddy, such as in the most recent portraits. more clarity and definition would be nice.
great work ... thx for the inspiration
Thanks people!!! Photographs taken in the gobi-desert and in Iceland, a study and a sketch for thee.

Jameshughes4789: Thanks! Awesome avatar btw.
Really nice concepts here! I'm eager to see more of your stuffs. Keep 'em coming, and keep us inspired
Oh and, I'm also curious to see your finished stuffs. Do you have them posted somewhere? I've checked your profile and can't find any.
Thanks everyone! Oh man this place is awesome. Im getting combo awestruck/depressed by looking at the other sketchbooks here. I know im not "supposed" to get ego-smackdown from it, but I do feel the bodyslam from time to time. Followed the advice and popped the face a bit on the creature. Needs more cowbell still. Oh and yeah, i dont really have a lot of pro- or finished stuff online, combination of reasons.
nice updates; that top creature looks badass, i'm loving the teeth and eye.
Also i agree about conceptart.org. It really keeps a person humble. It's nice though cause if i see an artist that is mind numbingly amazing, because of the format of the sketchbooks it can be seen that they got amazing in the same way as everyone else. It's really inspiring.
No real crits here except maybe on that top creature in the last post, maybe some more color variation. Some deep purples mixed in might work well with the reds, or even some green...but then it might look christmassy, hah. Anyway, thats all pretty subjective advice, you've got a great sketchbook here. keep it up! and thx for postin.
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

yo, just found your work here, great stuff, particularily like the enviournments, that last one especially, has a kind of "waltons feel to it" lookin forward to seeing more.
ArtZealot: Yeah, the hurricane-sketchbook comes to mind as a good example of how far one can go. Hurri is like a nuclear-powerplant. And yeah, greens it is.
The creature, now with green in it. Man, the studies ive been doing look crap. Im trying to use 1 brush at a time for each study. Might be a really dumb idea. Well, i try to post stuff im somewhat proud of here, so ehhh, ill wait a bit before i post them. Yeah, that sounds like a good excuse. They need refinement or something.
so good ... i admire your use of color.. thx again for the inspiration (guess I m going to do some studies of your work- at least of your colors)
Mischeviouslittleelf: Im on it. Yeah, the shape is pretty odd anatomically as well. (It seems so obvious and matter-of-fact when you mentioned trying to turn the shape around in your head as you draw it, that i was pretty puzzled why id never understood how helpful it can be. I guess ive been too preoccupied with shapes and rendering.)
Here is a blue monster, with a complete lack of narrative.
